 Her First Usukicon by icesmith

"Too ugly, too blue, too happy, too magic," the little girl's yells were sounding so tragic. "Too frilly, too sparkly, and this one's too old!" For such a young Usul, she was surprisingly bold.
Her mother followed, aisle through aisle, myriad Usukis in all different styles. Usukicon vendors loudly peddled their wares, but to her daughter's shrill screams, nothing compared.
"Oh sweetie, I'm sure there's one you must like?" she questioned and pleaded through an adrenaline spike. Yet still the girl wandered, dismissing each toy. Not a single doll brought even a semblance of joy.
The mother had hoped for her child to not be so snobby, and to share in her love of an Usuki doll hobby. But alas, the young Usul continued her deflection, clearly uninterested in her own doll collection.
"What about this one?" the mother picked the toy up. "It comes with a blanket, bag and teacup!" The girl rolled her eyes, releasing a sigh - until suddenly, in the corner, something great caught her eye.
The Usul child darted behind an old, dusty shelf, face glowing with glee. "Oh mother, just look! This one is for me!" Overjoyed and relieved, her mother did follow, but the truth was something she was not ready to swallow.
Her daughter reached out, and the mother did gasp, as she gazed at the creature held tight in her grasp. Bright green and preposterous, bulging eyes did wiggle. This was not an Usukidoll, but more like a Quiggle!
"That's a Quiguki," she exclaimed with fright, but upon seeing the girl's smile, her tongue she did bite. Her daughter was shining, face glowing with joy, as she began to hug the old rubber toy.
The girl did giggle, and reached out for a hug. The mother relaxed, and released a chuckle and shrug. "Fine, if that's what you want," she said with a positive inflexion. "Your Quiguki can go next to my Usuki collection!"
