Five Adventure for Your Next Tabletop Game by chasing_stars44
--------
Are you stuck on planning for your next tabletop game? Are your players looking forward to your next great adventure only for you to be fighting writer’s block? Look no further! Here are a few adventures for your party to traverse. These adventures are not fully comprehensive. They do not have information on NPCs, statblocks, etc. Instead, these are general plots that you may build to fit your table’s party and taste. Faerie Quest Frenzy! A tabletop game is not complete without a classic fetch quest. Were you tasked with finding an item for Fyora herself? Did you seek out Illusen to be rewarded with boons? Or maybe you were threatened by Jhudora or Ilere and you would want to remain on their good side? The possibilities are as endless as the different faeries on Neopia! In order to make this more of an adventure, though, there needs to be some sort of challenge. Walking through the Neopian Marketplace and picking up a brush for an air faerie is hardly an adventure. Depending on how seasoned your adventurers are, the roadblocks in their way may range from painless to precarious. Perhaps this particular faerie has enemies that do not want you to succeed. For example, if you are doing a quest for Illusen, maybe Jhudora sent some lackeys to keep you from getting the item. If you are doing a quest for the Space Faerie herself, maybe Dr. Sloth is after you himself. Or perhaps somebody wants to claim the rewards for themselves. If your party has a rival faction, they could catch wind that the main party is doing a quest and want to sabotage them in some way. Other than that, maybe a particular item is hard to find. Maybe Fyora asked for an artifact from a dungeon deep under Meridell. Maybe Ilere needs you to go deep into the Haunted Woods to gather some rare herbs. Not only does this give you a setting for your adventure, it gives you built in challenges for your party to overcome! Escape From Dr. Sloth’s Spaceship How did your party end up in Dr. Sloth’s spaceship? Were they captured in order to be turned into Mutants? Were they snooping around, got caught, and wound up here? Or were they even working for Dr. Sloth himself? In the end, how your party got here does not matter; what matters is that they are trying to escape. Depending on how the party got onto the spaceship, they may not have their usual equipment. If they were caught or captured by Sloth in some way, chances are they were stripped of their weapons and supplies. A savvy adventurer may try to hide a weapon on their person, preparing themself for a grand escape. Meanwhile, workers on Dr. Sloth’s spaceship may not have this caveat. If a party’s supplies have been taken, they may either have to find their original equipment or steal some that was on the ship. Dr. Sloth has a lot of security on his spaceship. Security will be patrolling the halls. If the guards become alerted to the party’s escape, they will actively be looking for them, making it harder to sneak around and more likely to throw the party into combat. The security’s main goal is to subdue, however they will do so by any means necessary. If the party causes enough trouble, they may have to face off against Dr. Sloth himself. In order to be fully safe from Dr. Sloth and his subordinates, the party will have to escape to Neopia. How they do that is up to the party. Some options include stealing an escape pod, stowing away on a ship bound for Neopia, or even taking control of the spaceship itself! The Mysterious Factory on Cherrytop Hill Strange noises have been reported from Cherrytop Hill. All local Petpets have evacuated the area. Residents are becoming wary. Will your party be able to figure out what is happening? Upon entering the factory, the party will quickly see that it is empty. However, as they continue to explore, they will begin to hear ruckus. The first thing they hear is the soft whir of machinery. Then the party will hear creatures moving around in the shadows. With some investigation, they will discover the noises are… sentient candy? And this sentient candy is angry. These sentient candies will fight the party. Their main goal is to capture the party and take them… somewhere. Where? The party does not know. As the party explores the factory, they slowly learn the dark history behind it. This is the factory that Wizzle created long ago. Wizzle was a successful candy maker and chocolatier. After making an edible friend, he then tried to eat it. However, this edible friend fought back and Wizzle was never seen again. And his most well known creation is back. The final boss for this adventure will be the Jelly Chia itself. The Jelly Chia’s main goal is to defend itself, however it will do so in any way possible. The party may try to capture the Jelly Chia or defeat it outright. After dispatching of the Jelly Chia, the party will see a journal of sorts. The writing is hard to read, but deciphering the journal reveals that the Jelly Chia was making a candy army to fight back against Neopians that dare try to eat them. Journey to the Obelisk The Obelisk is a place in Neopia that is shrouded in mystery. What secrets does it hold? What power does it have? Who is The Oracle, really? The safest way to make it to the Obelisk is to go alongside with one of the factions that regularly visit. Which faction the party goes with is up to them. Each faction has its own benefits. The Order of the Red Erisim has plenty of spellcasters, the Brute Squad has strong fighters, the Seekers have intelligence and strategy, etc. There is also the option for the party to travel alone. Doing so is typically much more dangerous. The biggest downside is that your party will not have the protection of a faction. The Tyrannian terrain is also very dangerous. With dangerous flora and fauna along the way, it is much safer to travel in a large group in case something were to go wrong. On the plus side of traveling alone, it is much faster, making it much easier to reach the obelisk first; at least if things do not go wrong. As is typical with all obelisk conquests, your party will likely be fighting against other factions. Typically, only three factions are active at a time; however, this number will vary. Sometimes there is only one faction actively going for the obelisk. Likewise, sometimes all six factions are active. As the factions get closer to the obelisk, the fighting will get stronger. The Oracle may even send out the party’s worst fears to test them. Once the party finally reaches the obelisk, they will be given a boon of their choice. These boons typically vary from buffs to bartering, navigating, even strengthening of the mind or body. These boons are often not permanent, but they can be very powerful for the time they are active. However, who knows? The Oracle may get creative and reward the party in a way its never done! The Treasures of the Neovian Catacombs Who said you had to play as Neopets at your table? In this adventure, you play as the furry, scaly, or other magnificent Petpets that inhabit Neopia! Did your owners send you through the Catacombs? Or are you just here for fun? The catacombs are full of nasty curses. However, Petpets are immune to Neopet curses. That’s just common knowledge! Everything else, however, is still very dangerous. The main danger in the catacombs lies with the inhabitants. There are cultists galore (evil, indifferent, and friendly – hey, don’t judge their hobbies), gelatinous non cubes, doppelgangers, and worst of all: tourists. How do you go about navigating these obstacles? While Neopets curses do not affect Petpets, that does not mean they won’t try to hurt you. Many of these threats do not speak Petpet, so your players will have to get creative in order to communicate with them. Or they can sneak by or attack them head on; hey, it’s happened before. In addition to the inhabitants of the catacombs, the catacombs itself also lends itself to danger. The catacombs are very old. There are holes in ceilings, unsteady floors, caved in rooms, etc. How can the party navigate these? Can they? Your players will have to keep a close eye out not just for catacomb inhabitants, but also dangerous areas within the catacombs. If someone were to get stuck under some rubble or worse, it’s a long way back up to the surface to get help. There are many treasures within the catacombs to bring back with you. Weapons, toys, food, and more! Who knows, maybe your party will make friends with some other Petpets and bring them back up to the surface. *** As stated at the beginning, these are general plots for you to modify as you wish. That being said, if you want to deviate from the plot, go ahead! You could send your party to the Obelisk only to be pulled away by a different threat. You could send your party on a faerie quest only to reveal that the party should probably not fulfill the request. There are endless possibilities! Now is the time to break out your notebook and start planning. Happy adventuring!
