Nothing could have prepared Rayue for the war against Vocivus the Ceaseless Gourmandizer. Not the tough survival exercises during her time at the Swashbuckling Academy. Not the months-long, gruelling drills at the Mystery Island Training School. Not even the rigorous magical practices taught in Faerieland Academy. All of it paled in comparison to this. Vocivus was, without a doubt, the most powerful enemy Rayue had ever faced. Judging by the desperate expressions around her, the thousands of warriors, mages, archers and battlers fighting alongside her felt exactly the same. The monstrous being towered over Altador like a living catastrophe, shrugging off attacks that could have destroyed entire Neopian lands and driven the Darkest Faerie or Dr Sloth away. This was not a battle of strength, nor was it a battle of skill or wits. It was a battle of attrition. Every fighter had probably been pushed to their limit hours ago. Now they were being forced beyond them, spending the last reserves of their stamina and willpower simply to keep Vocivus occupied. Yet, despite the countless attacks raining upon it from every direction, the Ceaseless Gourmandizer continued its advance, unstoppable and seemingly untiring. Rayue clenched her cosmic staff so tightly her feathers trembled. There had to be something that worked. Drawing upon what little energy remained within her, she raised her...
