Quote of the Week
On their drive to their new house, Jonah and his family had driven across all sorts of cool stuff, like Turdle Racing, Illusen’s Glade, and even another Petpet shop called Ye Olde Petpets, with creatures he had only seen in the Neopedia.
A Returning Visitor's Guide to Nostalgia
Are you a returning visitor to Neopia? Has it been years since you last walked the streets of Neopia Central? When was the last time you tried to find a Glow Worm in Moltara? How long has it been since you've been on a Faerie quest? Has it been perhaps decades since you spun the Wheel of Excitement, perused a local shop, or played a game in the Games Room?
If so - welcome back! Everyone is so happy to see you again. You will find some things around the world of Neopia have changed, but a lot of things have stayed the same. The shopkeepers still like to haggle, the Grumpy Old King is still grumpy, and a Baby Paint Brush is still a must-have item.
As you travel around, visiting your favourite places, playing your favourite games, and seeing familiar faces, you may begin to experience an odd feeling. A feeling of contentment, of peace, and mixed with just a little bit of sadness. You may feel like you're in a different time, a simpler time.
That's nostalgia, my friend.
Nostalgia has been described as a bittersweet feeling that pulls you backwards in time. It's the warmth of remembering a place that you used to love. Nostalgia is a reminder that something mattered deeply to you. But it's also a reminder that we can't go back to the way things were. It's a reminder that time progresses and we can't stop it. |
A Gardener’s Guide to Neopia’s Weirdest Plants
Introduction Spring marks the season with warmer temperatures, increased rainfall, abundant sunlight, and greater pollinator activity, which means your garden is ready to flourish, so take this opportunity to do it up and give it a new life! But with the ample variety of beautiful Neopian gardening plants to choose from, it’s easy to fall into the cliché of creating a typical Spring garden. So why not stand out a bit and treat your garden like your personal canvas? Choose the more bizarre botanical varieties to spruce it up to make it a truly original garden that is yours, and truly showcase your character and eccentricity. Below are six gardening items that will certainly make any passerby Neopet do a double take and marvel at your wondrously strange creation! Wocky Glove Wocky Gloves are beautiful plants that can grow to the height of a Grarrl with proper care! Their name comes from the particular shape of their purple blooms, said to perfectly fit a Wocky's paw. You should take care not to let your pets play with them, however, as this unassuming little plant can be quite toxic. In ancient Neopia, they were used as medicine, but have since gained a sinister reputation. Some even believe they played a role in the King Coltzan tragedy. These unfounded rumours have earned their bell-like flowers the nickname "Death Knells" after the infamous... |

Eau So Lovely: Neopian Perfumes for Every Season!
---Starring Chessangie the Royalgirl Draik, Chessella the Pastel Draik, Maldice the Stealthy Draik, and Christine, their owner!---
Christine: Hi! Have you ever wanted to smell nice? Is soap not doing the job for you? That’s why we will be looking at some Neopian perfumes today. I have some for all four seasons of the year!
Maldice: I suppose that some of these will be so sweet that they’re sickening. I hate sweet scents.
Ella: I love sweet scents, especially gourmand scents!
Maldice: ---shakes head--- Sweet scents are gross. I prefer spicy scents.
Angie: I like floral scents!
Maldice: Well, that’s better than sweet scents, at least.
Christine: I like sweet and fruity scents. Anyway, without further ado, here are the perfumes:
---Spring---
---Glyme Perfume---
Christine: This rare perfume has a nice floral and fruity scent. Don’t be put off because the bottle is shaped like a Glyme.
Angie: ---sniffs perfume--- It smells like a lilac, with passionfruit mixed in. I love it!
Maldice: ---sniffs perfume--- Whatever. Just another floral medley which is okay at best.
Ella: ---sniffs perfume--- The fruit is kind of sweet. This one isn’t bad.
Maldice: I would like a word with the marketing team. Whose idea was it to put it in a bottle shaped like a Glyme?! A literal slug!
Angie: I’m not an expert, but I hear that Glymes are actually insects. They eat flowering plants.
Maldice: An insect?! That’s even worse!
Angie: Well, not all insects are repulsive. Butterflies are pretty!
Maldice: Butterflies?! Yuck! What’s next, a bottle full of hearts and sparkles?
Ella: I would love that, actually!

"The Easter Negg Hunt" by kindnessx In a large meadow just outside of Neopia Central, a young Yellow Kougra sat in eager anticipation for Neopia to wake, her tail buzzing with excitement. The sun had only just begun to poke above the distant trees, casting its morning rays over the freshly decorated grass of the meadow where she stood. Her prizes sparkled before her, and she could already picture the faces of the excited children who would soon be arriving.
Sally had planned out this big day for months and had spent the early hours before sunrise to carefully set everything in place. Soon, the neighbourhood children were going to discover the largest Easter Negg hunt Neopia had ever seen. The first to arrive was her best friend, Maris, a Green Uni who had helped her plan the event. Maris giggled to herself when she observed Sally talking to one of the decorated neggs.
“You are going to make someone very happy," she said after she carefully picked up a pale blue negg and inspected its swirling silver patterns. They both had spent the past week carefully painting each negg to a calibre that would surely meet the standards of the Negg Faerie, Kari.
“You couldn't wait for me?" Maris said, causing Sally to nearly trip over some baskets scattered by her feet.
“Maris, you spooked me!" She laughed, trying to catch her breath. "I couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd set up early. I hope you don't mind."
“No, of course not. I half expected you would do that," she laughed back. Her expression suddenly shifted to a slightly crooked glance when something unexpected caught her attention. "What's that?"

"Rotten Berryl and the Heartbreakers" by pikapi20 As the platinum-hued sun began to set over the grey cursed lands of Meridell, the silver skies above with their wispy white clouds and faint views of the rifts in spacetime over the neighbouring Brightvale slowly ledened in appearance. The Grey Painter's efforts had reached all corners of the rural Kingdom, including the many fields and pastures of Meri Acres Farm. With slate grey waters of the stream running past the greige boundary fences that hemmed in the berry bushes of Pick Your Own, these tiny fruits seemed to be one of the few things that had escaped the villain's gaze. Much to the relief of Aoife. Bouncing down the side of the riverbank, the Loveberry was on something of a mission. Picking her way through the grey blades of grass, Aoife was on her way to Blaze's. Founded by the eponymous Lightmite under a large, upturned wicker punnet that was leant against a large jagged rock, the bar had, in recent times, morphed into something of a refuge for berries, petpetpets and pretty much any other creature too small to be affected by the land-wide curse. Not due to any increased risk of danger, mind you. It's just... the whole vibe of the place, you know? After a long day in the fields, you just want to have some fun. And Meridell was very much not fun at the moment. With the punnet on the horizon, the Loveberry was taken by surprise. "Hey! Hey Aoife!" called out a distant voice. Turning to face the river, there was a Nutritional Blockberry on the opposite side. "You guys ROCK!" he called out, excitedly...

"Taelia’s Sick Day" by weiyannn Taelia was cold. Ironic, given she was THE Snow Faerie. But not just that, she had come down with a cold. Which Snow Faerie gets colds?! Even under her thick wool coat, Taelia shivered. Since she couldn’t find her usual cures D’achoo, or Neoflu Jelly pills, she felt helpless. Even her magic wasn’t working like usual. She wondered if she had contracted some other sort of magical disease. Her runny nose hadn’t stopped dripping all day, and between that and the constant sneezing, she’s almost run out of tissues. She’ll need to remember to add tissue boxes to her list of items to request from eager quest-goers. But for now, she’s closed her igloo doors and turned away all Neopians who had travelled up to Terror Mountain to visit the reclusive Snow Faerie for a quest. She didn’t want anyone catching whatever she had. It had been two days of misery, coughing and sneezing. Taelia was tired. She was down to her last Neggdrop Soup, thankful for the items quest-goers had given her. But what she really wanted now was some Chicken Dumpling Soup. In the past weeks, whenever she had requested this item, Neopians never returned. Most of them cringed whenever they heard her say “Chicken Dumpling Soup”, as if they were allergic and fled Terror Mountain as soon as they turned and left. Some did return eventually, spewing apologies and begging for another quest. When she questioned them, they gave the excuse of “inflation”. How much could some soup inflate? But Taelia wasn’t going to harp on that. She was the famous Snow Faerie who specialised in alchemy.
