A Comprehensive Guide to Food-Related Neopets

by unfogging

--------

I like food. And I like Neopets. Most of you reading these words probably enjoy at least one, if not both, of those things. That’s why I am here to tell you that you can get the best of both worlds by owning a food themed Neopet. Yup, that’s right. There are several species and colors of Neopets inspired by our favorite foods. With everything from garlic to coconuts to Agueenas, there’s a flavor for everybody out there.

Below I’ve compiled a list of all the different types of food-themed Neopets, and how you can get one of your very own! With the New Year around the corner, isn’t it time for a new Neopet?

Fruit Chias

An apple Chia. An apple a day keeps the doctor at bay! You should probably eat healthier than one apple a day, though.

Want an easier way to get your daily fruits and vegetables? Consider owning a fruit Chia! There are currently 24 types of Chia Pops that will turn your Chia into a fruit Chia: Agueena, Apple, Asparagus, Aubergine, Avocado, Blueberry, Carrot, Chokato, Durian, Gooseberry, Grape, Lemon, Lime, Onion, Orange, Pea, Peach, Pear, Pepper, Pineapple, Plum, Strawberry, Thornberry, and Tomato. Fun fact: Owning a pea Chia and equipping it with a Super Attack Pea will earn you the elusive Super Attack Pea avatar, commonly nicknamed as SUAP. You can also obtain a Chokato Kiko by feeding a Kiko a Chokato Chia Pop.

How do you get one?

Simply create, morph or adopt a Chia and feed them a magic Chia pop, and voila! You have a fruit Chia to call your own. Alternatively, you can also use the Lab Ray or The Fountain Faerie.

Garlic Neopets

A garlic JubJub and Kiko. Can you imagine how bad their breath must smell?

Count Von Roo and other vampires need not apply. For those fond of garlic and its delicious taste, Neopets offers this unique color to two species: JubJubs and Kikos. Who says garlic needs to stay limited to the frying pan to enhance the taste of your dinner?

How do you get one?

You can attain a garlic pet by the Lab Ray or through the Fountain Faerie. A while back, TNT also hinted that it might be possible to attain a garlic pet by feeding a Kiko or JubJub lots of garlic food.

Coconut JubJubs

A coconut JubJub. Nope, you’re not imagining it. The coconut in that tree definitely just moved.

One of the cutest and more sought-after food Neopets, owning a coconut JubJub and feeding it a tropical food can land you an adorable avvie. Plus, they are by far the cutest. Don’t let the fact that I own one make you think I’m biased, though…By the way, have you seen my adorable unconverted coconut JubJub, Jekkoh? :)

How do you get one?

There is no paintbrush for a coconut JubJub. Instead, you can only attain one through a lucky Lab Ray zap or through the Fountain Faerie.

Candy Neopets

A candy Kougra. Not to be confused with the colorful candies from the chocolate shop.

Here’s a color your dentist probably won’t be too happy about, and one that qualifies as food. Candy Neopets! Introduced into Neopia fairly recently, candy Neopets are sweet, colorful, and quite unique indeed. They’ve become extremely popular due to their unique design. So far, 18 species of Neopets have been candy-fied.

How do you get one?

If you want to bring one of these sweet Neopets home, you can buy a Candy Paint Brush for around 4 million Neopoints. If you are lucky, you can also zap your Neopet candy via the Lab Ray or take a dip in the Rainbow Fountain with the help of the Fountain Faerie.

Chocolate Neopets

A chocolate Draik. How does that old saying go? A waist is a terrible thing to mind? No, that’s not it. Let me think about it and get back to you…

Chocolate. Is there anybody who doesn’t like chocolate? It’s one of the greatest things in Neopia. And chocolate Neopets have been around forever. Inspired by our favorite sweets, many chocolate Neopets have whipped cream, candy corn (candy corn is delicious, and I will always defend it despite all the naysayers), sprinkles, and even a cherry on top.

How do you get one?

There is no Chocolate Paintbrush. Instead, you can bring one of these decadent Neopets home by a lucky Lab Ray zap or with some help from the Fountain Faerie. Currently, 50 species of Neopets can be painted chocolate.

Custard Neopets

A custard Aisha. They may look like they’re made of melty cheese, but they’re custard, I promise.

Ok, so when you think of food Neopets, custard doesn’t typically come to mind. But the fact of the matter is custard Neopets are indeed food Neopets! There are even several delicious custard-themed items on the site, such as Green Tea Custard, Coconut Custard Pie, and Chocolate Beef Custard. Ok, maybe that last one isn’t so delicious, but the Alien Aisha worked very hard on it and we didn’t want to hurt their feelings. But anyway, back to business.

How do you get one?

There is no paintbrush for the custard color. Instead, you can get one of these unique and rare Neopets through the Lab Ray or The Fountain Faerie. Currently, 27 species can be painted custard.

Jelly Neopets

     A jelly Kacheek. Wibble wobble.

For years, there has been this silly rumor about a place named Jelly World, which is exactly as it sounds: a world made out of jelly. I’d go into how preposterous that is, but I have a character limit. Instead, I’ll talk about jelly Neopets, which come from the Lab Ray or the Fountain Faerie and certainly not from some fantasy world. They’re very cute and unique indeed, and I would recommend bringing one home! I’d also recommend not chasing fantasies such as Jelly World.

How do you get one?

As mentioned earlier, you can own a jelly Neopet by getting a lucky Lab Ray zap or with the help of the Fountain Faerie.
