A Chocolate Sloth Head Celebration by betti666
--------
Dearest and most loyal SlothFan127 newsletter readers… it has been quite a while has it not? And while I could go into a long (and obviously fascinating) diatribe about my summer job and everything that that entailed… that is not why we are here today. No, it is not. I have returned from my relative isolation to tell you all about another delightful delicacy that I have consumed recently, and also because I missed writing for you! I probably don’t need to tell you that of course it was a Sloth-themed treat. I wouldn’t be coming here in a triumphant return to my newsletter if it wasn’t a full on Sloth fanatic opportunity. Well, maybe I would because I do so love being published and hearing from my own fans: SlothFanFans if you will? The 127ees? I guess we can figure that out later… I’m distracted again. Back to the unscheduled content and my great verbosity. So, it was recently my Birthday and you just know what that means. I was treated by my parents to a selection of gifts and experiences tailored to moi; someone who could be considered to be the biggest fan of Doctor Frank Sloth ever. Well, at least that you might be able to locate in this particular part of Neopia. They humour me, and I love them for it. Not only did they get me a selection of stationery for my next academic year, a shiny pin badge for my Dr Sloth Backpack, and a selection of new novels to dig into in my downtime; they also took me to a pop-up experience in Neopia Central entitled ‘Grundo’s Cafe Gourmet Cart’. Did you get to go too? I wonder if it is travelling around Neopia or was a one off in the Bazaar. I forgot to ask. Anyway, if you didn’t manage to catch it yourself, this Gourmet Cart was a temporary expansion of Gargarox Isafuhlarg’s food establishment on Virtupets Space Station (that I also happen to have been able to have visited a few months about and regalled you with in a previous edition of the Sloth Fan Newsletter!) aka the Grundo’s Cafe. Honestly a place of culinary expertise unmatched by any of our sublunary offerings. Regardless, somehow it had come to be that the Cafe briefly branched out and had a stall installed right in the middle of the Neopia Central Bazaar. It wasn’t there last time I cycled past, which is a real shame. I asked those parental figures of mine whether they had arranged it just for me as my Birthday Treat but they gave me ‘that look’ and I could almost hear them rolling their eyes at me, so I laughed it off as we took a look at the setup in front of us that day. A variety of Grundos of all colours were milling around some tables that had been laid out on the lawn around the cart. One of them came over to us bearing some menus emblazoned with the cart’s name and wearing a snazzy apron which showed to us that they worked there and were about to help us navigate our experience. The Maracite Grundo in question led us to an unoccupied table, handed us our menus and said that they would be back shortly to take our order. All very exciting indeed. It didn’t take long until I had already noticed a few items that I recognised on the folded cardboard and yet why would I order something ordinary? Do you think that’s what I would do? Do you think that’s what Doctor Sloth would do!? Of course not. He was all about complete universal domination and would have wanted one of everything. I was, unfortunately, limited by appetite and neopoints so I had to select a mere two items to indulge in. For my main I went for a rather delicious Vegetarian Sloth Wrap, and though this was a classic choice with many deserving qualities, it is also not what I am planning to write about today. It was my dessert, pudding some would say, that stood out enough for me to write about. My dear readers, the true treat of the whole experience was the gigantic Chocolate Sloth Head! Enough to feed all three of us, though I got the Noil’s share. The menu had described it as, ‘A delicious chocolate shell in the shape of Dr. Sloth’s head. This shell is filled with a delicious marshmallow filling.’ and it truly was a sight to behold. The artistry that had gone into the creation of this piece was beyond compare, at least for any other pudding I’ve ever had. The chocolate was actually a white chocolate shell that had been sprayed with a thin metallic golden layer that gave it a luxurious radiance. The top of the head had been expertly sliced to create the container for the filling and the section that had been removed was jauntily placed on the edge. Not to forget the three hair fronds that perch atop which in this case were made from marzipan. Perfect! Inside, and spilling over the edge onto the bright orange tray that it was brought to us upon, was the marshmallow filling. This simplistic description from the menu just cannot encompass the quality and depth to the flavours it contained. It was rich and pillowy but also chocolatey too. Such a treat. Plus there was a cherry on-top. A top notch choice to be the, well, the cherry on top! Me and the ‘rents took a spoon each to dig into the chocolate feast, agreeing with every bite that this rendition of the Great Frank Sloth’s visage was by far the tastiest Sloth-themed treat that any of us had ever experienced. The sun was beating down that day and as we ate the chocolate skull began to bend under the heat. It actually helped open up access to the filling and made it so that we could scoop and share the sides rather than have to shatter it with some kind of extreme force. Imagine if we had to bash it open instead and had to waste any of the potential flying shards of chocolate!? I’ve let my imagination get the better of me once again. You know, this Chocolate Sloth Head was stunning, a truly perfect Birthday experience and I’m so glad that I have also been able to write up this little review about it so that you can all learn about the absolute treat that you missed out on. I don’t mean to gloat, of course. I just want to share the Sloth-y joy. Well, that’s all I have time for in this edition of the Neopia Central Almost Official Sloth Fan Committee Newsletter. I thank you for your time and hope that I will be back one day soon with either another adventure or maybe eventually that long-awaited interview with Commander Garoo. I’ll let you know! That is if this next year of NeoSchool isn’t a doozy and I still have time to write for y’all. I nearly typed ‘peace out’ but that doesn’t seem on theme enough… ‘World Domination Out’? That works for me.
