Guide to Being an All Around Great Neopian Citizen

by retrotastic

Yes, I know there are a lot of guides for Newbies going around. But I hope you'll find this one to be different since I'm describing my personal way of doing things!

I don't have a lot of time to play NeoPets each day, so I usually do a few things to gain Neopoints each day. First, I play Meerca Chase. You can get points from this great game up to three times a day, and if you're really good at it, this can mean a LOT of points. I use the NP I gain from Meerca Chase to last me all day. I also go to the Snowager, (Learning his sleeping schedule is a must!) sometimes you can get really neat-O items!

After that, I spin the Wheel of Excitement once every 30 minutes I'm playing. I can't tell you how much I LOVE the Wheel of Excitement. I've won 10,000 NP from the wheel at LEAST 5 times. Once I spin the wheel, I ALWAYS go to the Healing Springs. Why not? It's 100% free and you can get your pets cured, healed, and stuffed with food, or even some great healing potions. I do this instead of feeding my NeoPets or buying cures for their illnesses, so I save a lot of money there. If you go to the Healing Springs several times a day, you'll nearly always get all of your pets fully healed and stuffed with food at least once! Please note though, I am not saying you should depend only on this! If your pet is starving, and from the Healing Springs you only received a Healing Potion II, break down and buy some food. It's not THAT expensive. It's definitely better to have a happy NeoPet than a huge bank account.

I also love to do the quests. I only do the Snow Faerie and the Kitchen Quests. I've found the other quests to be very expensive for what you get in the end. The Snow Faerie and Kitchen Quests can often be done for well under 1,000 NP, and that's what I always do. If I find that one of the items I need for a quest is over 750 NP, I usually won't do it.

Every day, when I'm done playing, I put ALL of my money into the bank, and I keep it there. I don't need the money, because I just repeat the cycle over again the next time I play. This way you help build up a nice bank account, for when you find an item you REALLY want, and also get some nice interest!

Eventually, you may come across a codestone or a Faerie. This is a GREAT find, but think carefully before you use these items. If you don't plan on fighting in the Battledome a lot, it would probably be a better idea for you to just sell or trade the items. Speaking of selling items in shops... Owning a shop is a great way to get more NP, but please be smart with this! Don't put items in the shops for well under what everyone else is asking for the same item in their shops. This decreases the value of the item, and causes us all to lose money. When I'm putting a new item in my shop, the first thing I do is go to the Shop Wizard and see what everyone else is asking for the same item. I look at the prices, and usually put my item at about the 3rd or 4th listed price. Sure, my item may not be the first one to be sold, but when it does sell, I'll have made more money.

I hope you found this article interesting. I welcome any comments or questions you may have through Neomail :)
