Gelert Race: Part Two

“I’m Maylynnn and I’m going to be a racer when I grow up.” I was sitting with my little sister Artic who was playing with her Stego LilGasshopper. I, on the other hand, was thinking when I was in 3rd grade and was talking to the new girl in my class who turned out to be…

I whipped around as I heard a familiar bark. My good friend (and rival) Fossit, also a Christmas Gelert, was in the same competition, and I was terrified of the thought. Fossit was extremely fast and clever (just like me) and she knew all my moves.

“Fossit how nice to see you!”

“Hiyah! Maylynnn...” *pause* “...we're competing!”

“Yeah Fossit” I looked at her. She looked a bit arrogant, mostly because her owner Katphish2000 babied her and petted her like a Warf that had a cuties disease.

“Maylynnn you’ve got to go warm-up!” my owner instructed. Turning back to Fossit I gave her a quick singsong, “Bye Fossit.”

“Bye Maylynnn, good luck.”

BANG!!!!

It was the agility race. A starting gun signaled the 20 Gelerts to run. I ran and I ran to my deep surprise I was ahead of this fast Faerie Gelert. In fact I was ahead of all of the Gelerts, even Fossit, but they were all gaining on me.

All of a sudden there was a fence in front of me I was going to run into it! Instead of jumping I dove under it making me 4th. The crowd's screaming and cheering was shut out of my ears as the band of Gelerts ran across the Faerieland Field of grassy clouds. Now I was 3rd when all of a sudden a flock of Zafara lined out in front, many a Gelert tripped over them, but I just barked and they got out of my way. I gained on the Faerie Gelert, but his wings had been folded, now they were spread out. We raced across the finish line, our long ears out front to stretch. It was a photo finish, and I had gotten second. My owner was crying with joy as she rushed up and hugged me.

“Maylynnn you did it you got second place! You nearly won! That’s better than anything to me! Maylynnn?”

I was on a platform it was taller than another platform below it, but a taller platform was ahead of mine. The Faerie Gelert’s name was Hans. I found out as the medals were given out, and like my owner, Hans' owner was crying happily, as he got a wreath of flowers around his neck. Oh and third place was Fossit, who stuck out her neck for the glinting bronze medal. The shining silver medal was hung around my neck, the crowd clapped and cheered for us all. Then Hans received the golden medal and the stadium roared. Afterward, me and my brother and sisters went to watch a little Poogle competition we all couldn’t stop grinning.

The Wheel of Excitement Faeries gave us three Gelerts lessons with the wands of light for the last competition. I was always in training somewhere in the clouds, but now since my mom had won at The Wheel of Excitement 10,000 NP, I had a new Meekins called Oaka to help me.

Then the day came I couldn’t believe it but there it was, we were each placed miles from Faerieland. A grassy field out in the open but on all sides there was a forest-- the exact copy of the Haunted Forest and Mystery Island combined. The Faeries told us that parts of it had Tyrannian Caves and Maraqua caves of water that we would have to go to get through. The goal was to find the right magic key (there are 3 of them for each of us Hans, me, and Fossit) open the right door and restore the copy worlds to their rightful places just like the real ones.

“And remember,” said the sternest Light Faerie. "If you need help, use the Comet Charm and we will know your in need of our help.”
