Shari felt her body falling fast and near to the waters,
and she shouted to Jake for help. But there was no reply. Shari flapped
her wings immediately, and flew up into the air, and with a thud, landed
herself onto the ground.
"Why didn't you help me?" They got up and once again
faced the castle.
Jake looked at her and simply said, "I was about to,
but you saved yourself."
"You knock," Shari said quivering. Jake nodded, without
fear, and was about to knock the door when, the door made of gold and
with silver decorations opened. Both NeoPets stood with their mouths open
as their stared at the sweet beauty smiling at them.
Her hair was sea green and wavy. Her eyes were purple-blue,
mystical and serious looking. Her fair skin suited her pale yellow dress,
and as she bowed and said, "Welcome!" to them, they heard her melodious
voice. Jake entered without hesitation, while Shari stretched out her
paw and smiled back saying, "Hi. I'm Shari. You?"
The lady smiled and answered, "I am Princess Myra. The
daughter of what you would call the 'wizard of information'? But do call
me Myra." She smiled again, innocently. Shari was enchanted by her, and
from a distance, Jake was staring at her too. "Come in!" she said friendly.
And Shari did.
Jake said awkwardly, and stiffly in the midst of the
acquaintances, "We need information. Urgently." Myra nodded and brought
them into a room filled with books at every corner and the floor was carpeted.
Telling them to sit down, she said, "Tell me, what do
you want to know? Ask only one question each. For that's all you're allowed
to have."
Jake nodded and said, "A week ago, Shari's owner was
kidnapped by someone. We want information on him."
Myra smiled and said gently, "Shari, who was your owner?"
Shari smiled and boasted proudly, "The famous, gentle,
loving, kindhearted, gracious Fire Faerie of the world!" Myra gasp.
"Silver?"
Shari hurriedly asked, "You know her?"
Myra nodded and said, "She is my best friend."
"Why have not I heard of you then?"
"We…we lost contact."
"How?"
"It's a long story. Something you would not understand.
Perhaps next time? When you are older."
"Yes."
"Now back to your question, Jake." Myra mumbled chains
of unknown languages, and suddenly, a mist of black smoke filled the room,
and swirled into a ball in front of Myra. She opened her eyes, than said,
as the ball of black mist continued spinning and spinning.
"The Lava
Ghoul is the demon of Mystery Island. It steals then consumes
your food and items with its hot lava breath. Even though it is originally
from Mystery Island it can appear anywhere at any time. Beware of its
flaming tongue; it has a reach of well over twenty feet! It is well-known
for jealousy, and will want to destroy you if you are better than it in
the expect: fire." Myra paused, her hands clasped over her mouth, she
was suddenly white and pale.
"What is it?" Shari asked.
"The reason for Silver's kidnap is…is…that Lava…Ghoul
wants to destroy her!"
"No!" Shari screamed.
"He, the demon, is jealous of Silver's power of fire
and flame!" Myra said, slowly and sadly.
Shari was shocked, no words could come out of her mouth,
but Jake came over and put his arm around her. "Be brave." He said.
Shari nodded, and said to Myra, with eviction, "Here
is my question; where is Lava Ghoul now? Where is the demon of demons,
monster of monsters, worst, worst, worst creature in Neopia?" Shari stamped
her feet hard onto the ground, her eyes filled with a mad glimpse of wanting
to rescue her owner, Silver.
Myra closed her eyes, and stood very still for a long
time, before saying "The Lava Ghoul is normally either in the Mystery
Island, or the Haunted Woods, or the Volcano of the prehistoric world
of Neopia, Tyrannia. But, I feel that 'it' should be in the Volcano. That
is my answer, to you."
Shari thanked Myra, and suddenly the castle seemed to
be fading, the room they were in seemed to be vanishing, and Myra's voice
seemed to be echoing, and continuously saying to Shari, "Be careful."
Then there was a wicked laugh…and they were back, and surrounded once
again by the bricked wall. The wall was rumbles and had fallen, but now
it was whole again. It was as if all that they had encountered were a
fantasy. But they knew it wasn't.
"Who laughed?" Shari asked Jake.
"Nobody. I heard nothing."
But Shari knew and had heard laughter of wickedness.
That night, they were suddenly filled with renewed strength, and without
saying a word to each other, continued the road on to the Volcano
of Tyrannia. They traveled in the day, and rested in the night. But they
seemed to be traveling too slowly. Finally, Jake motioned Shari to come
close to him, and he said, "Have you ever heard of the place portal machine?"
Shari shook her head.
"It was invented by Dr. Sloth. They say he sold it. Sold
it for what Neopia is worth to the magic shop. Come! Let's go there! If
we don't, we'll be traveling for more than a year, and be never able to
reach Silver still!" he said. Shari nodded, and so they changed destinations.
To the magic shop they would go. All Shari cared about was to save Silver--even
if it cost her life.
