A Quest of Fear
We walked down our street, potions in hand, and a destination. The air had cleared of the rain, but seemed still wet with our despair, even the happiness of being without my owner forgotten. Adding to the "air of despair," my brain was flooded with questions. Why did Legend choose me to tag along? Why did Dr. Sloth give him the potions? Why, why, why?! All this seemed to fill my brain, tearing my head at the seams, desperate to get out...to find some answers.

"Where are we going?" I asked, feet soaked and tired from walking through puddles. Why wouldn't he just let me carry him and fly?!

"Shhhhhh!" He warned, silently. "He may hear us. Flying also gives off a lot of energy, perfect for his detectors. Now, please stop doubting me." I thought about making a comment on how he was not my "paranoid fearless-leader," but thought this was not the time, plus the joke was not all that funny. We soon reached the Bank.

"Your account, or his account, ma'm?" The Skeith at the counter asked me.

"His. Safety Deposit Box, please," I answered. I caught a quick glance of amazement in Legend's eyes, he was wondering how I knew what he wanted. I don't know...I just....knew. We got to the deposit box, but was stopped, a Faerie hovering over us.

"Shoyru Transmogrification Potion is my plea, if you complete this quest, I will give you prizes beyond your glee." The Faerie spoke in rhyme. What?! It was The Faerie QUEEN! I shivered, then looked at Legend. The Truth just hit him, too, and he nodded.

A nod telling, "We have it, why not use it?" I nodded back to the Queen that we would accept this quest, then she disappeared in a puff of purple smoke.

I used my Flaming Torch ability to light the way to the edge of Neopia, then picked up Legend. I had great strength, so I picked him up, made sure he would not slip, and then flew up into the sky, towards Faerie Land. Looks like his "Flying is a bad thing, it will signal Sloth," proposal didn't seem to affect him now.

I landed on the puffy clouds of Faerie Land. I had only been there once, to get an envelope for the Employment Agency. As I've said, my owner is quite protective.

We walked until Faerie City's gates rose high above us. I walked through them, ignored the astonished looks of Neopians, their eyes all trailed to the potions we were holding. We walked through the open doors of Quest Central. I looked around me. Earth Faeries, Fire Faeries, Air Faeries, Uber Faeries and more! All hovering around us! A Dark Faerie flew past us, snorted in disgust, and I felt a searing pain in my arm. A scar ran right up my arm! An Air Faerie flew past, healing my wound, off in the direction of the Dark Faerie, to scold her. I walked around, then finally found the large door. The door that might give my exploding head some answers.

However, when I got there, my wings dropped and my mouth hung in surprise. A line! A line, with hundreds of Neopians! A line that seemed to never end! Who in the WORLD wanted to give Neopians this many quests?!!

I looked to Legend, and his tail was lowering onto the ground in disappointment. We walked to a bedroom, a guestroom for occasions such as this one. I lay my head on the pillow, spread my wings out, as not to squish them, and let my tired mind blank out...

I looked around. Where was I? Looked like Haunted Woods. But...why was Dr. Sloth chasing me?! No time to think, I just ran. Strange. As the stones seemed to rip my paws apart, I could not feel. Was I paralysed? Did Dr. Sloth give me a poison before I awoke?! He was chasing me...He caught me....A Monster Techo held me down...Gave me The Potion. To Transform me. As I faded out, I promise I saw a Dark Faerie in the distance...laughing at my insignificance....

***

I woke up, sweaty from the horrible dream I had just encountered. As I reassured my self everything was okay, I stopped to wonder. Was this a sign? Did the Dark Faerie work with Sloth? I fell asleep on that thought. When I awoke, the memory of the dream and my pondering was completely forgotten, a file tucked back into the depths of my mind.

The Faeries were kind enough to lend us some food, and told us to wait for an hour. I had the strangest feeling that something, SOMETHING, was missing. Like I had found something out, something important, only to forget it. When it was our turn, the Faeries gasped as we told them who gave us the quest, and what she had asked for. We walked up a golden stairway to the roof of the house, to the Queen's quarters...
