A Tale of Two NeoPets

Chapter 3: Return to Neopia

At the end of the week my NeoPets still had not decided when to go home. Fungee kept trying to get them to let him stay in the human world forever, but of course he couldn't do that. It was the best week of my life. If I could relive it over and over and over again I would do it in a heartbeat. Saturday morning came and went. Saturday afternoon dragged by slowly as we sat on the couch discussing the problem of when and how to get my NeoPets home.

"I think we should go home this afternoon." Said Bubble888.

"Why so soon?" complained Fungee. "Neopia needs us, after all, I am the mascot and shopkeeper of your shop bsbgurl8."

"Bubble888, don't call me that. Call me Sam, like everyone else."

"Okay Sam. But I am and I need to sell to customers!"

"Can't they just click on the item and purchase it?"

"Yes, but I have to make sure that no one is stealing and being bad!" I chuckled.

"Okay Bubble888. I guess you do need to go home."

We headed down to the computer and I opened the Internet. Going into NeoPets, I sighed. Would they ever be able to visit me again? I sure hoped so.

"Can we come visit again?" Fungee echoed my thoughts, bouncing up and down on a blow-up chair. "Anytime Fungee."

"Yay!"

"Is it easy to come back and forth?" I asked Bubble888, who seemed to be the computer genius of the bunch.

"I'm not sure. I think that we will have to come again the same way we did before."

"Well, come soon all right?"

"We will!" cried my NeoPets I helped each pet up onto the computer desk and close to the screen.

"All right, when I tell you too, stick your head into the monitor," instructed Bubble888. Puppy, who was the first to go home, nodded.

"One, two," Counted Bubble888.

"Three!" Puppy stuck his head into the monitor and it sucked him up like a vacuum cleaner.

"Who's next?" asked Bubble888.

"I'll go," volunteered Sundance8. Bubble888 counted again and Sundance8 disappeared into the screen. I hated to see my friends go. I felt a slight pressure on my leg. Looking down, I saw Fungee hugging my shin.

"What's wrong Fungee?"

"I don't want to go!"

"But you have to go and be Sundance8's pet," I protested weakly. "I want to stay with you!"

"You can come back anytime you want," piped up Bubble888.

"He's right. Come next weekend and see me Fungee. I'll be here waiting."

"All right," huffed Fungee as he took his place in front of the monitor.

"Bye bsbgurl8!" I heard him call as he too was sucked up like the rest of my pets.

"Now it's your turn Bubble888."

"Yep. Bye Sam!" Bubble888 disappeared before I could reply.

I felt horrible now, but I couldn't wait for next weekend. I checked the quick reference page just to make sure that my pets had gotten home safely. They were all in their exact places and seemed to have smiles frozen on their faces. I blinked a few times. Had I just seen what I thought I had seen? Yes. Sundance8 had winked at me. I minimized NeoPets.com and opened a typing program. My fingers flew over the keyboard as I retold my story:

It all started one frosty winter Sunday when I was sitting in front of my computer screen....
