Part one
Chiti the Kacheek was thought to be an unsuccessful and lower class
Kacheek by everyone who knew him. And even though he thought they were
all wrong the truth was that they were right. He'd sit on a couch all
day long and mooch Neopoints off his relatives. It was a beautiful winter
day when Chiti called his mother for the umpteenth time asking for Neopoints
"Chiti," she said. "Look what you're doing to yourself. I thought you
would change if I gave you a loan, or two, or three, of four, but I've
given you over twenty and nothings happening. Enough is enough! I'm not
giving you another Neopoint. I'm so sorry Chiti, but I'm doing this for
you." Then she hung up. Chiti's mother had a very strong bond with Chiti
so then Chiti fully understood how lazy he was and for the rest of the
afternoon Chiti actually thought about how to change. He came up empty-handed
so he flicked on his television to relax.
"Come to Loony Lenny's pretty items!" the TV blared. "Wing of Greta!
Staff of the Earth Faerie! Yup, we've got 'em all! All sorts of beautiful
items from-" Chiti switched off the TV and laughed. He knew what to do.
All the richest NeoPets were businessmen. It was the next day when Chiti
called his cousin Lina, asking for a loan.
"I'm starting a shop!" he said. Lina gasped. Maybe he wasn't as lazy
as she thought.
"How much do you need?" she asked.
"1000NP to start off!"
"You got it!" Lina said enthusiastically.
Chiti went over to the Neopian Bank to get the money from Lita's account,
then he went straight to Loony Lenny's shop. He bought 400 Greta wings
and bought a shop at the Marketplace. All the relatives were invited to
the grand opening of Chicken Fry, Chiti's shop. Lina told them about the
phone call and they all chipped in every penny they had to make the store
successful. There was a ribbon blocking the front door. Chiti picked
up some scissors and cut the ribbon. The relatives paid him so much he'd
managed to buy 50 large shops all across Neopia. Much to the relatives'
delight Chicken Fry became a big hit. Everyone loved the chicken wings.
The relatives repeatedly asked him how he made those wings but every time
Chiti would murmur that it was a secret. Soon the 50 stores grew 100 and
not long after 100 grew to 1000. There was Chicken Fry in every town.
Chiti paid his relatives back and was considered a very high class businessman
by everyone who knew him.
You may think this is the end of the story but it is not. You see, Chiti
didn't do enough research. All he found out was how Greta wings were the
tastiest chicken wings in Neopia. After that, he stopped and called his
cousin. It really was too bad he never told anyone what the recipe was
because anybody would have told him that to eat Greta wings was horribly
UNLUCKY!
A few months after the grand opening of Chicken Fry, the news reported
that the Neopian stock exchange was the lowest it had been in years and
was going lower. Not long after food prices went sky high and people were
starving. Then some floods hit. Not ordinary floods, no, gigantic floods
hitting all of Neopia. It was growing clear that Neopia was in for dark
days. This might have gone on for years if Liletine the Alien Aisha didn't
wake up one morning to find her neighbourhood flooded with all her neighbours
sitting on their roofs or riding in boats.
The newest fad for the local kids was water hockey and Alien Aisha as
she was Liletine had no idea how they played it. Naturally Liletine's
house was protected with magic against a fair number of things, including
floods. Alien Aisha's are always strong with magic and wisdom. Liletine
was about to walk to her crystal box when she saw a little brightly shaded
Kacheek floating underwater. Liletine's eyes widened. That could only
be Gertrude! She quickly walked into her living room and pulled the lever
for her transporting machine. In an instant Gertrude appeared.
"Liletine! Why did you bring me here?" she whined. Liletine fetched
her a towel and a "cuppa cocoa."
"You were about to drown!" she replied.
"I was playing water hockey!" Gertrude said. She was about to make a
mean comment when she remembered that this was her friend Liletine, not
one of the local meanies.
"Thank you for helping me," she said. Liletine smiled.
That was why she liked Gertrude. Any of the other kids would have stormed
out the door muttering a mean comment. But of course Liletine would change
them a different colour. That was why Gertrude was a lightly shaded Kacheek.
She use to be naughty but she changed her ways and became an utterly trustworthy
Kacheek.
