So long as the world has existed, so has the ocean. A glimmering mass constantly turning and twisting in upon itself. Rolling levels of obsidian jumping and gasping for the sky beneath cold grey skies through which clouds lazily drift, blowing their chill breath across the sea and selfishly hiding the sun away, sharing its warmth only with themselves. And yet the clouds are very vain. They very much like to stare at their reflections for long hours of the day, and so they'll let the sun's light peek through their arms, only so it can better reflect their glorious faces in the shifting, whispering waves, and they might catch a glimpse of themselves there. Soon however after that, the sun, whose vanity far outweighs their own, burns away their presence to stare at it's own reflection in the sea, now far less disturbed by the troublesome breathing of the clouds. Beneath the warm gaze of the sun, the ocean is comforted and lazily kicks its waves upon the feet of those present at the sandy beaches, those watching the exchanges between the sky and the sea take place, and even those skipping stones, only for the delight of itself. And so the world is calm, the sun stares at itself, the sea content with the warmth of the sun and the clouds softly trying to reform beneath the sun again. The light twinkles and dances across the gently rolling sea and peace descends upon the scene.

Such tranquility would seem to last forever, had not the carved wooden hull of a pirate ship shattered the reflections into shards with its passing.

Pirates are not wussy.
