If you are familiar with the old system:

We began the new system on June 11, 2007.

The kads now pend every 7 minutes.
THEREFORE, we do not have regular intervals as before (minutes ending in 1 or 6) - you must now manually add 7 minutes to the last pend to get the next refresh time.

Intead of a 30 minute pause between mains, we now have 28 minutes to go along with the new system.

When a mini is caught, it is rounded to the EARLIEST interval on the CURRENT 7-minute loop.
note 2: I realize this previously said nearest after having someone point it out on Andy's petpage. The minis have always been rounded back to the earliest interval, just as the main is put back to 28 minutes instead of 35. sorry for any confusion x_x

WE ADD 28 MINUTES INSTEAD OF 35 BECAUSE:

1) The first refresh is more of a reminder to people that the kads have begun pending. This is helpful because:

a) A lot of people are accustomed to not refreshing on the first pend, as it was a rare occurrence under the 30 minute system
b) People forget to refresh right on 35 minutes, as there IS half an hour in between, plenty of time to do other things.

2) We have added 28 minutes ever since the system changed - changing it would confuse the heck out of everyone, not to mention needing to change all the guides (which would confuse new feeders) etc etc ...

3) adding 28 minutes (or adding 30 and subtracting 2) is a lot easier than adding 35 (or adding 30 ... and 5 ... o_O) ... easier for timekeepers? hehe =P
