One of the only survivors in the devastating avalanche that completely destroyed the icy mountain Wren, the infant Swirl is airlifted to a hospital near the base named St. Rita, where she is in critical condition and suffering from a horrible bout of frostbite. She recovers after a long period of time, but is left with her tail and fins completely frozen. She is bought as a pet for Prince Morragan and Princess Cherry and is flown to South Genray, in the Majaki Mountains and resides in the large lake of the same name, where she is discovered by the new residents of the Lake House. She lives with Sun and the other stragglers, and is all but cationic, suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome.
