You're all familiar with the tales told to children in order to get them to behave. 'Fairytales' they're often called. But in this world, there is one that does not exist in yours. And that's the tale of the girl and the darkness.
She was young, naive. While very innocent, she passed off the tales of the Babaa field as an old wives tale. How wrong she was.
The darkness flowed in through every pore, every tiny space in her skin. It devoured her insides, enveloping them with it's shadows. There was no escaping the transformation, and when it was done, there was only one way to escape herself. And she couldn't bring herself to do that.
Now a bitter young adult, Rako spends most of her time keeping others away and wishing for some easy way to keep her horrific urges at bay. While a cup of tea is very relaxing and welcome, it just doesn't cut it when you're dealing with inner demons like hers.
