My memories are fondest, all those times that we would laugh
came from my own heart knowing I had found my better half
to share my life with, to the end of my life. Because I loved.
And it was when you left me; that fateful night when you'd take
the very life I had before I'd even start to wake.
In that waking moment I realized all I had was gone. For you were gone. But still, I loved.
And through the nights I wandered throughout the forest trees,
on walks alone where only the sky could hear my pleas
for my sleepless night to end; yet they could not end. For still, I loved.
The nights from there grew tired, and the darkness grew long.
And yet I waited eagerly to hear that song that my heart sang upon your every return.
But you did not return. Yet still, I loved.
And even in current days, I lay back to talk above
to the sky that lectured me before the days of our lost love
on what I may do to fix this mess, if this can be fixed at all. Since still, I loved.
And when I saw your face again, that love in your eyes, still,
I found that my heart beat for you, it did before, it always will.
Because though I had tried to forget you, you were never to be forgotten.
