Bella puffed out her cheeks, pouting, as Rin sat reading beside her under a tall tree.
Rin! Rin! Come look at the stream with me! There are little animals in the water.

Not now, Bella, Rin replied. I'm almost at the end of this chapter, then after that we can play.

Bella huffed, then went back to the stream. The water gurgled merrily beside her, and she stuck her face closer and closer to the water to look at the squirming things. Then suddenly a shadow began to form, and with a pop! a petoot burst out of the water and flailed, splashing water all over Bella.

Bella jolted in surprise, tripped on her ears, then did a somersault backwards, landing in a nearby bush.

Simon! the bush cried. I'll going to get you!

Bella bolted out of the underbrush with leaves clinging to her face, and started chasing after Simon, laughing, as Simon squawked and fled for the river.
