The Healer
In six years he had wandered and settled, in six years had had dug and furnished a home, and in six years he had developed a reputation as a healer and his home as a place of refuge. He had grown out of some of his youth. His fur was thicker, to guard against the elements, his footing was sure through the rough forest paths, he was taller at the shoulder and deeper in the chest. Perhaps most strikingly, though, was his growth as a quadruped. As a pet in the wild, he had developed the native gait instead of the civilized practice of walking upright. He knew this would forever brand him on sight as an outsider to society, but six years ago, that was what he had wanted."
Call me Polaris for short. My skills don't lie in physical strength like my older sister, Wings, but in patience and compassion.
