What is it that makes me afraid? Many things, though I will keep them to myself. I must keep a brave face; brave, and always kind. My job requires a kind of strength that not every person has. It challenges me in many ways, but I have never doubted my ability to do it well.

I tend to the sick and the wounded; to do my job well, I must relieve them of their pain without taking it onto my own shoulders. I refuse to be overwhelmed. At night, if being inside the clinic gets to be too much, I go out and watch the sky. As the stars emerge, my breathing slows and I can sleep in peace.
