Quote of the Week
He let the fields grow wild, and as months blurred into years, he watched trees overtake the grasslands. He didn’t mind the change. He’d spent enough time trying to control his own restless spirit that he had no desire to fight against the unceasing tide of nature.

RESOLUTION 1: Goal-Setting to Greatness!
First off, sit down and think about what you want to achieve on this site. Take a look at your account and find what is missing. Make a list of what you see. Is your avatar count low? Do your Pets look a little boring? Is your trophy cabinet kind of empty?
Writing down what you see can unlock new things you want to try. Always the most popular choice is becoming a collector! This can come in a few different forms:
Avatar collecting. Hunting for secret avatars is extremely popular and for good reason! With the recent releases of more and more avatars, now is the perfect time to jump on in. Even the hard-to-achieve avatars can be yours from friendly lenders or through the guild you will be joining...

The Annual Avatar Assembly!
Welcome one, welcome all!
It's that time of year where we once again take a look at all the new avatars that have been released in the past year, and Koi has it been a doozy! From stamps to games, to toys and even some super secret random ones mixed in, this past year has allowed Neopians to express themselves in new and exciting ways (or to just add a few more numbers to their vast collections - I see you out there avatar collectors).
You may be asking yourself "What is an avatar and who even cares!?". So before we dive into this year's new editions, let's have a quick refresher shall we?
Avatars are fun, varied, and awesome icons that can be used to either express yourself or to show off your achievements from around Neopia when chatting to others on either the Neoboards or in your Guild. There are 100s of them to collect and flaunt, and each avatar has a unique way of being found and collected. Many Neopians from Meridell to Maraqua care about collecting them and working each day towards a new avatar goal, with there even a section on the Neoboards devoted to discussing them. If you weren't an avatar collector before, maybe this article will inspire you to nab some new ones or maybe you'll spot a specific avatar that you want to track down for yourself. |

Welcome to Feed Florg, where the object of the game is to send hapless Petpets into the mouth of a terrifying chia monster. Why? Who are we working for? Those are questions that the PPL is trying to answer right now. Play now and get the avatar before they shut Florg down!
Now for some nitty gritty details: 250 points nets you the avatar. How do you get there? Petpets get dropped down onto Florg's table, and you must keep them within its confines with a robotic hand. Every Petpet eaten is worth ten points, and every time you use your weird mechanical hand to 'bump' a Petpet so it stays on the table, you get one more point. (I call it 'bumping' instead of saving, because, well...) You only have five lives, however, and every time a Petpet manages to run off the table, you lose a life! There are no powerups in Feed Florg and thus no ways to earn extra lives. Thankfully, there are no power-downs either. (~Eyes Pterattack~)
The game starts off easy enough with only one or two Petpets to juggle at a time, but by the end of a good game you'll be juggling three or four. If you reach 200 points with three or more lives remaining (somewhat rare), I would consider you to have a pretty good game going. You may consider restarting if you lose a life before reaching 50 points, but the game is so random that it may not actually matter. |

"The Little Jubjub with the Big Heart" by kindnessx Snow fell softly and daintily over Neopia Central, frosting the cobblestone roads and rooftops in a coat of white. Shopkeepers swept the glittering drifts from their doorways while hymns of various carols drifted through the air, hummed by passing Neopians bundled in their cosy scarves and hats.
At the very centre of the plaza stood an empty stone circle, wide and expectant. As though it was missing something magical for the quickly approaching season. Pipkin, the Blue Jubjub, was out for his morning walk when he paused at the empty space, thinking this very thought.
Pipkin was small even by JubJub standards, but the size of his heart more than made up for this difference, especially during the holidays. He waddled around the barren patch like a Bruce would on ice and tilted his puffy body as he examined his surroundings. The empty space in the centre of town bothered him, even though he wasn't completely sure why. He stood at the edge of the circle, looking up, trying to imagine something grand that would be suitable for this spot. Then it hit him.
“This," he proclaimed aloud to no one in particular, "is where the biggest Christmas tree Neopia Central has ever seen is going to stand!"
A nearby Usul, who worked closely with the Breadmaster at the local bakery, blinked at him. She had just finished work for the day and was out stretching her legs after a busy morning of making Christmas baked goods for the increasingly demanding crowds. |
"A Happy New Year" by ningkov1 ”Happy New Year! This is going to be my year!” The wide-eyed Quiggle shouted out into the darkness just as an egg almost fell onto his head. He thankfully caught it just in the nick of time and noticed it was actually a Baby Pteri. He looked up and saw another Pteri bowing its head in apology and flying down to him in a panic. “You saved my baby! I'm so sorry! He loves rolling around! Thank you!” He handed the egg back to his grateful mother and waved as she carefully flew away. It's okay, he thought to himself cheerfully. This would definitely be a great and lucky year for him, unlike the previous year, and the year before that; also, the year before that; well, every single year of his life. He hugged his friends at the party and looked at the confetti and fireworks swirling around in the sky. He took a sip of his drink, then promptly spit it out. A wet and scared-looking Mootix looked up at him and smiled weakly. “Sorry! I fell in your drink and couldn't get out! Thank you for not drinking me!” As the Mootix slowly moved across the table, Alfred took a deep breath and reminded himself to stay positive. He bid his friends goodbye and headed home in the darkness, thinking of all the things he wanted to try this year. He wanted to read more books and get that trophy; he wanted to finally travel to Mystery Island, where his parents came from; he wanted to learn how to cook; and he wanted to learn how to play Gormball. He skipped happily in the darkness until he bumped into a Grey Yurble sitting in the middle of the sidewalk.

"The Comfort from Perfection" by lunaticrave Mistakes must never exist here. Not where vulnerable souls lay on narrow beds, depending on healing paws for their recovery. At the NeoHospital, neither patient nor caregiver afforded a silent reprieve from the everyday hustle and bustle of its white, antiseptic halls. A jar of tongue depressors tipped over and clattered against the floor. Cardiac monitors bickered over each other to compete for eyes and ears. Groans escaped from the mouths of volunteers overwhelmed by endless tasks. Every Neopet was exhausted. Well, except for one. Pink, the white Usul, was the model volunteer. Each step flowed with a magical air that energised worn-out Neopians to straighten their shoulders and take a much-needed breath despite the strain. One volunteer swore Pink had walked past a patient afflicted with the Grey Curse, and couldn’t believe their eyes. Colour bloomed back into the patient’s face, returning to rainbow hues in both body and spirit. Admiration followed her not only for her earnestness and talent but also for her kindness. When her list of duties neared its end, she willfully took on the burdens of those lagging. Her selflessness earned her the title “Faerieland’s everyday hero” for putting herself out there to help others when should could have easily stayed safe and comfortable in her homeland. While praise followed Pink, her petpet attracted a different kind of attention. Perfection the Meepit never lived up to his name. He hopped behind her at a much slower pace. The distance between them is ever-growing like a... |
