It has been only about a week since a massive earthquake rocked Neopia,
shattering the frozen ground of Terror Mountain. The ice shifted and revealed
the lost land of Tyrannia. But what else did that earthquake shift?
Ever since that ground shaking event, the floating city of Faerieland
has drifted on a North bound course, thousands of miles off it's usual
hovering point. No one living in Faerieland itself seems to have noticed
the change. Prancing, dancing, singing and losing items goes on as normal
in the land of Faeries.
What is the reason for this shift in the otherwise stable land of clouds?
Dr. Chinou, a prominent meteorologist and clam eating Scorchio at the
University of Chinou, where he acts as the Dean, Professor and the entire
student body, offers this hypothesis:
"When the land of Tyrannia was revealed, it was because a massive hole
opened up in the ice caps. Hot air from Tyrannia rushed out and crashed
into the cold air. The cold air expanded and pushed all the other air
and clouds away. Soon enough the air cooled and contracted, so air rushed
back in to fill the empty space. Faerieland just got caught up in the
wind rush."
Dr. Chinou goes on to assure us that once the atmosphere settles down,
as it already has begun to, Faerieland will once again resume a stable
float. However, because the winds will once again be calm, it will not
return to it's original location.
Offering up an alternative theory is a monk known only
as Dave the Jubjub from the Guild Of The One Red Eye. "Faerieland is magical.
The Obelisk
of Tyrannia is magical. They are drawn to each other! Stay away from the
Obelisk because any moment now, the City of the Faeries will come crashing
down to join it in a magical, mystical happy reunion!"
When asked if there was any chance that the very light
Obelisk would un-lodge itself from the ground and fly up to the very heavy
Faerieland instead, Dave the Jubjub only stared blankly and say, "I’m
sorry. I could not do that."
Just before press time, this reporter received a tip
from his anonymous sources that a third theory, whispered only in secret
amongst the Flotsams, has emerged. It's an ages old tale, passed down
through the generations of an ancient city that once floated in the middle
of the Neopian Ocean. This city was held afloat through magical and mysterious
means. Its magic was stolen (or borrowed) by the Faeries to keep their
city afloat. But now that Faerieland is thousands of miles away from the
site (whispered to be The Lost City of Floatantis), Flotsams everywhere
are hopeful their beloved city might regain its magic and surface once
again.
So what is the answer for Faerieland’s drifting? Surely
it is linked to Tyrannia. But how? Massive winds caused by temperature
changes in the atmosphere? Magical attractions to the mysterious Obelisk?
Or have the Faeries chosen this time of new worlds to release a lost Flotsam
city from its watery prison? Only time will tell. In any case, this reporter
recommends that you keep an eye…on the sky.
