I woke up on a beautiful beach with white sand. “I must have died and
gone to heaven,” I said groggily. About half a mile down the beach I saw
a blue lump laying in the sand. I got up to start walking towards it because
I thought it might be Undeann, but I tripped. I got up again. Tripped!
Again! Tripped. After a few more tries I got it and started walking towards
the blue lump. When I got about half way I saw something in the tall grass
by the beach. But I didn’t care. If I looked back to see what it was I
would just trip again. I finally made it to the blue lump. It was Undeann!
I ran the rest of the way to her.
“Undeann!” I yelled at her. “Undeann!” For a second I wondered why she
wasn’t moving, but then I realized that she was unconscious. I went up
to her and shook her roughly.
“Ow, ow, I’m awake already, I’m awake.” came Undeann’s beautiful voice.
"We’ve died and gone to heaven,” I said stupidly.
“Of course not, dimwit,” Undeann snapped.
“I don’t see any angels, do you?”
“No, but it so nice here I thought…” I stopped. “Where is here, anyway?”
“Beats me,” Undeann said.
“Our best chance of surviving is to find people and ask for help.” I
thought for a second. What if the “people” weren’t nice? What if there
were no people? “Or we should just swim out to the ocean and hope we reach
Maraqua?” I said weakly.
“Pitiful, just pitiful,” Undeann spat.
“Well then,” I said very angrily. “Get up and let’s find these so-called
people of yours."
“Fine then, let’s go,” said Undeann stiffly.
“Fine,” I said snobbly back.
Undeann got up but before she started to walk she screamed “AHHHHH!!!”
“What?” I yelled frantically.
“Big booboo, major ouchie,” she said with pain.
“What?” I yelled again.
Undeann turned around and winced. She had a big gash on her left side.
“Oh no,” I said, then suddenly I had an idea. “Undeann, use your heal
ability!”
“Oh ya!” said Undeann. A silvery blue glow appeared around the wound
and it healed.
“Come on,” I said, “We still need to find your people.”
“They’re not my people and we don’t even know if there are people around
this place,” scolded Undeann.
So we set north (or what we thought was north) to find civilization.
We walked all day and some in to the night until Undeann complained, “I’m
tired, let’s find a place to rest.”
“Sure,” I said “that’s what I was thinking.”
We walked, jogged and ran for another half an hour till we found a nice
grassy spot by a stream. We sat down and got comfy as you could get on
grass and tried to get some sleep. After a while I said, “I‘m hungry,
I need something to eat.”
“Me too,” Came Undeann’s reply.
I got up and scanned my eyes around the clearing. I couldn’t very well.
After a little bit I gave up.
“Oh, I give up!” I snapped.
“I can’t see anything.”
"Undeann, you try, after all you can see in the dark.”
I waited but no reply came. I looked at Undeann, she was fast asleep.
I shrugged, got a drink of water from the stream, and tried to get to
sleep.
I woke up to the sound of thunder. I ran to Undeann and woke her up.
“What, what is it?” she said sleepily.
I thought for a second, but then I realized what the sound was. “STAMPEDE!”
I screamed over the thunder of hooves. “RUN!” So we ran as fast as we
could. When I was running I did a quick glance back at the stampeders.
They were a bunch of wild Kaus. We went over the hills, through streams
and around canyons. The Kaus got so close to us that you could feel their
breath on our necks.
After we ran over a mile I felt that I could not run any longer. But
I knew that if I stopped I would get trampled. I shuddered at the thought.
What a horrible way to lose a limb. I suddenly thought of an idea. “Undeann,”
I yelled, “start running diagonal." Undeann looked at me curiously,
but she did as she was told.
To be continued...
