How It Feels To Be Abandoned

By ashlieghgurl

One hot summer morning I heard my owner talking to some lady I had never seen before. I got up and peeked around the corner quietly. She was wearing a yellow business suit and looked very professional. She was going on and on about her wonderful pet Sarah the Cybunny and how rare and beautiful she was.

Then the lady made an offer to my owner that he just could not resist. She offered him Sarah the Cybunny for only 40 neopoints! My owner agreed right away but then said that he had a slight problem. "What is it?" The lady questioned him.

"I already have four pets." He said.

"Well," said the lady, "That is simple enough to solve. Just abandon one of your less valuable pets and then you may have my lovely Cybunny."

Seeing that my owner had wanted a Cybunny he decided to do so. "I like my three brothers and sisters, though," I thought to myself. Who will he abandon? Hearing the door slam and footsteps coming closer I quickly ran back to bed.

Then my owner came in to our room. There he looked at all of us. The female Uni, the male Lupe, the female Lenny, and then me. His eyes stopped on me. He glanced back over at the Lenny one more time but then went back to me.

"Milkyyy get up and come into the kitchen," he called.

I did what he said. When I was in the kitchen he fed me some neocereal and a cup of tea and then said that we were going for a little walk just me and him. I already knew what was happening but played along the whole way. He stopped at the adopt / abandon center, yanked open the door and gave me a harsh push inside the room. It was hot and musty smelling inside. In the background I heard crying and yelping.

Then my owner said that he would like to abandon me to a mean looking lady at the front desk. He placed 80 neopoints on the desk and simply walked away without even saying good-bye. Then the frustrated woman grabbed me by the ear and forced me into a smelly cage barely big enough for something as small as a Kiko.

For the next few days I remained there crying and starved until one rainy day when a friendly looking girl came by. She stopped next to my cage and stared at me. I felt so ashamed of myself to be here weeping pitifully in a smelly cage feeling sorry for myself. Then she said that she wanted to adopt me.

That day I went home with her and she fed me a wonderful meal, played with me, and even groomed my fur. Today I have three other sisters and brothers who always like to play with me. I feel so lucky to be loved by my new owner because now I finally know how it feels to be loved.

My advice for all of you owners who are considering abandoning a pet of yours is to stop right where you are and to think about what you are doing to your wonderful pet because surely the careless owner I adopted Milkyyy the Kau from surely did not do so.

THE END.
