Adoption: The Problems and How to Help

I have recently looked around the pound and noticed that there are many many sad pets there. Some pets have been there forever because I check the pound once a week and I see some of the same ones sitting around. Here are my reasons why it is so bad and what you can do to help.

Why is it so Bad?

One reason that certain pets live eons in the pound is because of the owners who create them. Some people are too lazy to create a pet's name, so they type in something like djklfdjklf. Or some people find it funny to give their poor pets names like big_bottom or things much much worse which I cannot put in this article. Now, who would want a pet with a name like that? And since you can't change the pet's name most people won't want to adopt the poor pet.

There seems to be only a few types of pets that are the majority of pets up for adoption. I think it is because people don't consider them to be very cute so they don't want them and they put them up for adoption. Then nobody else wants them because they think that pet isn't attractice either so it's stuck in the pound.

You have to see the pet to be able to adopt it. At first in the pet search engine you could search by species and color but now you can only search by name so you have to really see the pet you want and find out the name to adopt it. This has discouraged many from adopting because it takes so long.

What can be done?

When you make your first pet think long and hard about it's name. You may not always want to keep it in the future, or you may not be able to. If you have a heart you want your pet to have a nice home, so it needs a nice name to get one.

This is a suggestion for the Neopets Staff: I know you have alot of work on your hands but if you have time you should try redoing certain pets because not that many seem to want them. An example is the Jubjub. Isee a TON of those in the pound.

If you see a pet that you think is cute and someone would adopt it you should advertise it. Spread the word about it so it can find a home! Put messages in your shop and in the chat boards telling people about it. Offer to give them a piece of food to take it. A pet will find a home and you will feel good for helping a poor pet find a loving home.

Adopt! Don't create. Try to find a poor pet in the pound. They are just as cute as anything you can create.
