Neopedia : Usuki Dolls

One morning, on my way to the Grooming Parlour to pick up some hair-gel, I noticed a long, winding line that stretched as far as the eye could see. Hoping to find out what was going on, I asked a Cybunny who was standing in line what all the commotion was about. "Why, haven't you heard? It's Usuki, the coolest doll in the history of like... ever!" Although I generally tend to think of dolls as kids' stuff, I have to admit that I was genuinely curious. So basically, that's when I decided to get in line and see for myself what this whole Usuki thing was all about...

After standing in line for nearly two hours, I finally made my way into the Toy Shop. When I got to the end of aisle six (one of the people in line had told me that that's where the Toy Shop normally kept them), I turned to my left and there they were: an entire wall of Usuki dolls, stacked all the way to the ceiling. I was stunned! They were so beautiful, and so lifelike; I'd never seen anything like it.

There were so many different varieties: Teenagers, Flight Attendants, Mermaids, Beautiful Brides... even a special St. David's Day Usuki in traditional Welsh attire. But that wasn't all--there were also loads of really cool accessories, like the Mystery Island Beach House, the Smoothie Shop, and the Alpine Challenge Playset. Though I was tempted to buy one of each style, I noticed a sign that read "Please limit Usuki purchases to two dolls and/or one playset." "Well, that's plenty for now," I thought to myself, so I grabbed a Teenage Usuki, a Beautiful Bride Usuki, and a Smoothie Shop Playset, then headed to the register to pay for my dolls.

Having paid for my Usukis, I ran all the way home. I couldn't wait to take them out of the box and play with them. Once I had assembled the Smoothie Shop, it was time for the fun to begin. "Hi, my name is Suzie Usuki," I said, holding my Teenage Usuki doll in my right hand.

"Oh hi Suzie," I said, in a slightly deeper voice, as I held my Beautiful Bride Usuki doll in my left hand. "I'm so glad to meet you. My name is Polly Usuki... do you want to be my very best friend?"

"Why of course, Polly," Suzie said, "I would like nothing better than to be your very best friend in this whole wide world. Oh hey, that's a beautiful dress that you're wearing. Is it a wedding dress?"

"Why yes it is, Suzie. I'm getting married today to..." Hmmm... I looked around the floor of my room, in search of Polly's "husband." "Ah yes, I'm getting married to this handsome Moehog Plushie. His name is Horace... he's a real keeper! Say, would you like to be my Maid Of Honour?"

"Would I? Why, nothing would make me happier," Suzie replied, "but right now I'm really thirsty. Do you think we could have a Smoothie first, and then you could get married?"

As odd as it may sound, I carried on like this for the better part of the afternoon. After marrying the Moehog Plushie, Polly Usuki found out that my Blue Skeith Toy was going to evict her and turn the Smoothie Shop into a parking lot if she didn't come up with enough NP to pay the mortgage. Then, my Grarrg Action Plushie kidnapped Suzie Usuki and tried to hold her for a million NP ransom, but luckily Polly's husband, the Moehog Plushie, was able to sneak into the Blue Skeith's hideout and bravely rescue her.

Needless to say, I got up at the crack of dawn the next day and headed for the Toy Shop. Amazingly, there were already four or five others in line when I got there, sitting in the grass playing with their Usuki dolls. I know that I'm going to get a Mermaid Usuki for sure, but I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to get a Hawaiian or Fun In the Sun Usuki as my second choice. Oh well, I guess I've got a few hours to think it over...
