Match One: Blind Justice vs. Golden Child

|
Having played to a 2-2 tie during their meeting in the leagues round, this
time there was much more at stake as Golden Child met Blind Justice in the Quarterfinals. During
the early stages of the match, Blind Justice took a 2-0 lead, only to let Golden Child storm
back and tie the contest at 2-2. However, Blind Justice rallied to take a 5-2 lead into the
half. In the second period, Blind Justice pulled away, scoring nine goals to seal an impressive
14-7 win. |
Match Two: Mr. Roboto vs. Mr. Insane

|
In what promised to be a classic match, Mr. Roboto squared off against Mr.
Insane for the right to meet Blind Justice in the Semifinals. Early on, Roboto and Insane
carefully measured each other, resulting in a first half marked by cautious offensive
volleys and airtight defence. At the end of the first frame, Roboto held a modest 3-0
lead. In the second half, Mr. Insane appeared to seize the momentum, rallying to stun Roboto
by scoring five goals. However, Roboto had scored another three goals of his own, giving him
a 6-5 victory. |
Match Three: Electric Blue Monkey vs. C Dawg

|
After his stirring 2-1 overtime victory over Mr. Pickles, Electric Blue Monkey
locked horns with C Dawg for the right to move into the Semifinals. In the first half, it
appeared as if this would be another low scoring affair for EBM, as the match's deliberate
tempo resulted in a 1-1 tie at halftime. However, Electric Blue Monkey stormed out aggressively
in the second period, scoring a couple of quick goals to take a commanding lead. By the time the
buzzer sounded, EBM had cruised into the Semifinals with a well-deserved 5-2 victory. |
Match Four: J. Boogie vs. Hollywood

|
Coming off his upset of Number 6 in the previous round, Hollywood hoped to
take down another contender; would J. Boogie be the next Deckballer to get his come-uppance?
In the early going, it looked as if Hollywood had run out of miracles, as J. Boogie tallied
a pair goals. Then, hoping to rally back, Hollywood switched to a more aggresive style.
Unfortunately, his strategy backfired, allowing J. Boogie to score some easy goals and take a
6-0 lead at the half. Things didn't get any better for Hollywood in the second period, as J.
tacked on another six goals, coasting to a 12-1 victory. |
