"And now, our next contestant for the prestigious Petpet Spotlight award: Steyria and her White Gathow, Blizzard!" The audience applauded as the flashy-looking green Krawk, who was the announcer, stepped to one side. A fire Eyrie walked out with a small white Gathow perched on her shoulder.

"Hi, I'm Steyria, and this is Blizzard..." Steyria smiled nervously. "Blizzard is special, because... well, Blizzard can talk!"

Half of the audience cheered while the other half simply looked at the pair skeptically.

"C'mon, Bliz, do your stuff," said Steyria, gaining confidence as she placed her petpet on the ground. There was an expectant hush.

"Mrow?" said Blizzard, sounding like an ordinary Kadoatie or Gathow. She purred, rubbing against Steyria's leg.

Steyria looked horrified. "Blizzard! Do something - anything - tell them that funny joke about Kaus that Elycien taught you," she whispered urgently.

Blizzard paid no attention, cleaning herself with a paw. She looked up at the Eyrie and meowed once, putting her head to one side fetchingly. A great "Awwwww" rose from the crowd.

The Eyrie laughed nervously. "Er, haha, yeah, quite the little practical joker, my Bliz." She gave a rather forced smile at the Gathow, who was looking the picture of innocence. "We need to, erm, take a little break backstage..." With that, she whisked the Gathow backstage again.

"Are you nuts, Bliz!" she hissed. "We could get a trophy for this!"

Blizzard refused to answer (if she had the ability to answer at all). Instead, she ran out onstage and performing numerous tricks, to the delight of the audience. Steyria sighed, placing a paw over her eyes. "Why do I even bother?" she muttered.

She gave one last, pleading glance at Blizzard. Her petpet ignored her, balancing on one hind paw. Steyria groaned. "I give up already. Come on, Bliz, let's go."

"Okay!" said Blizzard cheerily, scampering off to follow Steyria.
