Maraquan Madness: Part Five

Druinnan
"All together now!" shouted Asiris, raising his gleaming sword into the air.
The villagers pushed against the monster, trying to jab their weapons into his
thick skin.
With one final sweep off his tail, the Sea Slug knocked down the government
building and swam hastily out of the village.
The small town erupted with cheers and whistles. Druinnan smiled in spite of
himself and raised his spear in the air like the others. Maraqua had been saved.
***
Druinnan sighed as he looked around what was left of the village. 2 hours had
passed since the Sea Slug had departed and left their town in shambles. The
Krawk darted out of the way of 2 Flotsams carrying a stretcher and he caught
a glimpse of the pet lying unconscious on it: a Purple Uni.
Druinnan wondered vaguely how the Uni had gotten down to the village, since
she was obviously not a local, but he brushed the thought away as the Uni was
carried into a small tent.
Someone tapped Druinnan on the shoulder, and the Krawk turned around. Asiris
was bobbing gently up and down in the water, holding an official looking scroll
in his claws.
"Well, Druinnan," said Asiris quietly. "I have misjudged you. I should've listened
to myself; I knew all along that you still had a good heart. Will you stay in
the village? The food is still here, so no harm has been done."
Druinnan crossed his arms. "Stay in the village? I stole the food, and now
I take the consequences. Next time, I'll make sure I don't get caught." He let
the faintest trace of a smile pass over his lips, and wondered whether Asiris
had caught it or not.
Asiris seemed surprised for a moment, and then he nodded, an understanding
look in his eyes. "Ahh. I see. Well then, come to the edge of the village so
we can ban you properly."
They floated along side by side to a small stone arch. Druinnan stood in it,
facing Asiris, who stood in front of him.
"Sorry about the village," muttered Druinnan.
"We can rebuild it," Asiris whispered back. "The important thing is that no
one was severely injured. Thanks for your help, Druinnan." He handed the Krawk
a small bag of food. "Here's your weekly portion. It should last a while."
Raising his voice again, Asiris read off the scroll, "by the power granted
to me as the chief of this Maraquan village, I hereby forbid Druinnan the Maraquan
Krawk, on this 5th day of the month of Hunting, from ever entering our village
again."
"Chief of this Maraquan village?" taunted Druinnan in a whisper. "And it's
not even the month of Hunting."
Asiris smirked and whispered back, "get outta here."
Druinnan heaved the bag of food over his shoulder, and turning around, swam
away from the village, careful not to let Asiris see the grin on his face. The
Draik knew it was there anyways.
The end of Druinnans’ adventure…
Sea Slug
The Sea Slug cried out in surprise when, out of nowhere, a small object flew
against his head. A cry escaped his mouth at this unexpected gesture, and with
a roar, he leaned forward, his mouth agape and his eyes filled with the red
of a thousand terrors.
The moment his mouth closed shut, more cries of distress echoed from the crowd
as they surged forward, seemingly outraged at this surprising act. He, also,
was quite surprised at the quickly discovered bravery and courage of the villagers;
he felt jabs of swords and spears against his skin, and he swung his tail around
once again, trying to desperately put off the attacking Neopets. Unfortunately,
just as quickly as before, they surged forward once more, attacking him again
and again.
Many think of the Sea Slug as a dull creature, but this is not a fact. He is
wise beyond words, and during this exact moment, he knew that he was outnumbered,
both in strength and quantity. Sweeping his tail around once more in vain, the
Sea Slug pushed against his hind legs and surged forward, the ocean's water
streaming past his slimy skin. Behind him, he heard the glad cheers of the villagers
as they celebrated their victory, and those shouts of joy tainted his heart
with anger and despite. Another bellow echoed out of his mouth as he swam and
disappeared behind the black veils of the sea...
The end of the Sea Slugs’ adventure…
Asiris
The large green beast was thrashing around when Druinnan and Asiris arrived
at the city. Druinnan went off, a spear in his fin. Asiris grabbed his sword
from his scabbard that he kept at his side. He then shouted "All together now!"
He ran up with the villagers and started to stab the slug. Watching it squeal
in pain made Asiris smile. There was a certain sense to this stab that represented
the village and its’ cooperation throughout the years.
His mind was cleared when the Sea Slug slammed into him, sending him flying.
Asiris was pushed back onto the sandy ground but quickly got up to see the slugs’
final whip of his tail, knocking down the Main Hall.
Asiris heard the villagers cheer and run around. They were happy that they
had defeated the Sea Slug.
A guard went up to Asiris and handed him a damp scroll that, when Asiris read
the words aloud, would forbid Druinnan to enter the city again. Asiris sighed
and swam over to the Krawk.
The Maraquan Draik went over to Druinnan and tapped him on the shoulder. He
turned around, looking at him. "Well, Druinnan," Asiris whispered. "I have misjudged
you. I should've listened to myself; I knew all along that you still had a good
heart. Will you stay in the village? The food is still here, so no harm has
been done."
"Stay in the village? I stole the food, and now I take the consequences. Next
time, I'll make sure I don't get caught." Druinnan smiled.
Asiris laughed later when he was alone, but then was not the time. Still, Asiris
understood his choice. "Ah, I see. Well then, come to the edge of the village
so we can ban you properly."
The two of them swam over to a large stone arch which was the entrance way
to the city.
"Sorry about the village," muttered Druinnan.
Asiris smiled. "We can rebuild it. The important thing is that no one was severely
injured. Thanks for your help, Druinnan." He handed the Krawk a bag of food.
"Here's your weekly portion. It should last a while."
The Maraquan Draik then unrolled the scroll and started to read in a loud voice
so the villagers could hear. "By the power granted to me as the chief of this
Maraquan village, I hereby forbid Druinnan the Maraquan Krawk, on this 5th day
of the month of Hunting, from ever entering our village again."
"Chief of this Maraquan village?" taunted Druinnan in a whisper. "And it's
not even the month of Hunting."
Asiris smiled and whispered back, "Get outta here."
The Maraquan Draik stared at Druinnan who was now leaving the village forever.
Asiris waved goodbye and shed a tear, hoping the Krawk didn’t see.
After Druinnan was well on his way, Asiris turned around and surveyed the crowd
of villagers. Many were wounded but some had not a scratch on them. Asiris then
looked at the town. Only a few buildings remained intact. The rest was destroyed
in the battle. “Okay, people, we have a lot of work to do,” Asiris said as he
bent down and picked up a large piece of wood. “Let’s get to it…”
The end of Asiris’ adventure…
And that is where the adventure ends. Eventually, Druinnan was welcomed
back into the city and greeted with joy. The city had been rebuilt with the
help of many townspeople and visitors. There was a sense of completion when
the city was finished. It was (if possible) better than ever. The Sea Slug had
run off, wounded and defeated. There hasn’t been a sighting of him ever since.
When Druinnan was welcomed back, it is said that the Sea Slug died but that
is yet to be proven. Until the next time you meet your friends, the Maraquan
Draik, the Maraquan Krawk, and of course, the Sea Slug, I leave you with a final
entry…
The city had been rebuilt. Buildings towered up to the very top of the sea.
People around the parts called them seascrapers. The Main Hall was rebuilt.
It was home to Asiris’ office, Druinnan’s new office, and a mound of other things.
This city was the perfect haven to hang out or live.
“Druinnan!” Asiris yelled, bounding down the halls of the Main Hall. “DRUINNAN!!!”
The Maraquan Krawk turned around, a large stack of papers in hand. “What?”
he asked, dropping the papers accidentally.
Asiris panted. “I need you to sign this for me.” Asiris held out a paper from
behind his back.
Druinnan rolled his eyes. “That’s what this was about?” He took a pen out from
behind his ear and quickly signed the form. “Now, help me pick this up.” Druinnan
smiled and Asiris bent down and started to put the papers into a neat pile.
It was good to be home, Druinnan thought…
