Quote of the Week
I couldn’t help but smile despite myself. She was beautiful. She was, after all, the heart of spring.
Interviews with the Dark Faerie Sisters: Malice
I’m glad you have opened up to the second part of this special installment of interviews. Last time, Spite’s interview was published for the Neopian world to see, which was met with some controversy and fear. I got some letters asking me what the three Dark Faerie Sisters are up to, but I cannot say, nor do I know. Perhaps it is best just to stay cautious, my dear readers.
That said, this week is an exclusive interview with none other than Malice, the sister who is prone to violent outbursts. Of course, I took proper precautions by wearing some armor.
“Malice.” I greeted warmly, offering her my hand. To my surprise, she actually shook it.
“Hello.” Malice answered, her voice was fairly deep for a faerie, and it was also shockingly pleasant. This put me on edge.
“Why don’t we take a seat?” I pulled out and sat down, and Malice followed suit, watching me expectantly. “Uh…” I shook my head, clearing it of my most likely obvious fear. “This will be published as the second interview in the series, and clearly Neopia is interested. Thank you for meeting with me.” |
Cumulative Trophies – Conquering the Impossible
Two years ago, I submitted an article to The Neopian Times that sought to bring some of Neopia’s most over-looked game trophies to the public’s attention. These are the cumulative trophies, those which reflect millions of points sunk into the games of Pyramids, Sakhmet Solitaire, Scarab 21 and Neggsweeper.
The TLDR version of my last article was that these trophies are not impossible to get, even if you’ve only just signed up to Neopets today. They simply require a huge investment of time and dedication, with a smidgen of luck thrown into the mix. As long as you submit a score in these games once every three months, you retain your high score and can keep adding onto it; come back four months later and you’re back to square one.
Towards the end of the article, I revealed my own personal journey with these special and rare trophies: I was struggling to shimmy up the high score table of Neggsweeper, aiming for my first ever cumulative trophy. Since its publication, I have received Neomails from multiple users who wanted to check in with how I’d progressed. |
| Stupendous Slorgs
There has always been some debate about which petpet is the cutest or the best. More often than not, there is always a very loud and passionate following for the beloved weewoo—and who could blame them? But I’m not here to speak of the weewoo, but of the Slorg whose fanbase is much smaller compared to some of the more popular petpets. In this article I will outline some of the reasons Slorgs are amazing creatures, and perhaps persuade those with doubts about the Slorg why you should give them a chance. |
Other Stories |
"Keen's Pirate Adventure" by hannahcreep I'm gonna spoil the ending of this story right now: I die. But not really, or else I wouldn’t be writing this, right? And you don’t really die in Neopia, you’re brought back as someone else. Apparently, you don’t remember but that’s a secret between me and my cousin now. But my story is, apparently, an exciting one. I think it’s exciting but I’m not that old and I think everything is pretty exciting. And who’s to say it isn’t? But this story is about pirates, luck, and a tree.
Let’s start at the beginning: my sister was just transformed into a candy Lutari. I wasn’t jealous of her or anything but I guess my mom could tell I wanted a color change, considering both of my siblings weren’t basic at all and I was just a plain, yellow Xweetok. So, to try and make us all even, my mom let me pick a color and, since I love pirates more than anything, I picked pirate. |
"The Heart of Spring" by ketchup547 The eventide Gelert tread lightly through the forest, making no sound. She wore a dress weaved entirely of flowers. Even from here, I had no doubt that the flowers were still alive. Her pale brown hair cascaded around her shoulders. It, too, was interwoven with flowers. Ditreys and Springabees fluttered around her, even pollinating her dress. A single earth faerie followed close behind her. The Gelert sang a song about a Korbat and the moon as she walked, tapping plants with her ears. She left a trail of green grass and brightly coloured flowers in her wake.
I couldn’t help but smile despite myself. She was beautiful. She was, after all, the heart of spring. Last month, I’d been contacted through several intermediates by the heart of winter. He was an eventide Bruce, with bright yellow feet and snow flurries dancing across the darkened sky along his cheeks. |
"Petpetpet Wars:Part Four" by herdygerdy Captain Finnegan saw the smoke on the horizon long before the airbase came into view. The remains of the barracks and the air control tower smoldered in the early afternoon sun.
Finnegan brought the Beekadoodle in low down the airstrip. The Petpet scrabbled madly across the grass and Finnegan leapt off, struggling to tether it to the ground before it shot off into the sky once more.
Leaving the Beekadoodle twitching madly on the airstrip, Finnegan looked around the airbase. He kept his crossbow ready at his side, but the airbase seemed deserted. In the distance, he could see that the balloons had been deflated and lay crumpled in the grass.
The Cootys had lost the airbase… but where were the Mootix?
Finnegan's hand tightened around the trigger of his crossbow. So many of his friends were gone… he'd have his vengeance for this.
A separate plume of smoke caught Finnegan's eyes. It was coming from the town, set away from the airbase. |
