Quote of the Week

And even if it’s still not perfect, it was evident in the faces of the guests that as they listened to her music, they also marveled at the beautiful scenery around them. Butterflies were darting to and from the bushes, and the air was filled with the scent of roses.

Caring for Your Grey Pet

"Why would I ever want a pet that is always sad?" This has been a longstanding question for many pet owners around Neopia. Over time, many myths surrounding grey Neopets and their behaviour have surfaced. But how many are true? And how can we care for grey Neopets properly? As the owner of 2 grey Neopets, I have plenty of experience. One of the most frustrating things about being a grey pet owner is the myths that surround our grey friends! These myths are simply untrue, and should be examined thoroughly for the good of all grey Neopets. MYTHS MYTH #1: "Grey pets are always sad and gloomy." This is simply not true. Haven’t you ever heard of the phrase "you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover?" Many grey pets have a lacklustre facial expression, but this does not reflect their mood. Grey pets often get lost in their thoughts and daydreams, but this does not mean they are necessarily feeling sad. Furthermore, many grey pets look quite cheerful, such as the Usul, Kougra, Korbat, Draik, and Bruce, who sport a lovely smile!

"A Humble Foot Soldier" by princessnath_95
Darkness. Darkness was all I saw. I remembered running around on errands for her Majesty. "The festival must be perfect." I kept hearing her voice repeating these words to me. Now everything was Chaos. Buildings destroyed, broken tree branches, my friends lying unconscious all around me... All I could hear was Aethia yelling, Taelia trying to calm her down, and Kaia mumbling some words under her breath. I got up, my vision was blurry, my head was throbbing, but I had to know what was going on. I walked through one of the main roads, stumbling due to all the debris. I find the Faerie Queen and hope she can give me an answer as to what just happened. "The wraiths", she said. "They've attacked us. Isabell, I'm afraid we are at war." "Oh no!" I couldn't believe my ears. Wraiths here in Faerieland! The place I've called home for so many years! We had worked so long to try to restore Faerieland to its former glory and now look what's happened. As I'm lost in thought, lamenting all that has occurred, I'm taken out of my daze by a strong voice powering through the air: "Fellow Neopians", the voice of Aethia rang with confidence. "We will not cower down and let ourselves be taken. We will not allow such behavior to go unpunished. We will show those wraiths who we are and we will rise up victorious in battle. They have started this war and we're going to end it!"

"The "True" Story of the Vanishing Pound" by supergirl1057
As far as Dr. Death and Rose could tell, the entire incident must have been in the works since before the fall of Faerieland. They estimated over five hundred pound pets were involved in the greatest accident anyone could remember in all of the pound’s history. Some called it the worst thing to happen since the conversion, others touted it as the largest practical joke in Neopian history to date. I could go on and on explaining how what happen changed the course of time and made it into the history books. But that wouldn’t answer the real question you’re all wondering, which is how a mild mannered Red Kyrii like me ended up sitting in front of Dr. Death being blamed for the entire debacle. Well I can assure you, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I had nothing to do with it at all. If I’m lying may Fyora kick me out of Neopia and force me to restart my life on Kreludor in a Grundo costume working in the Virtupets mines for all eternity. My owner given name is pretty pointless, it’s got no real meaning and no real consideration, but most of the pets in the pound called me Sweetie. I was part of the large collective of pets that were considered "stuck" in the pound. Thanks to some great workings of cosmic forces, I did not get a chance to be noticed by owners. I didn’t even show up on most of their radars, which is a shame for them, honestly. Everyone should be excited to meet me, I’m a downright joy.

"Leave Room for the Impossible" by unfogging
Eliss hung the "closed" sign on the shop door, relieved the day was finally over. She was an assistant at the only furniture store in Tyrannia, and had been for as long as she could remember. It was boring, tedious work, but it allowed Ellis and her owner to decorate their Neohome for free, which she wasn't complaining about. She stepped outside the shop into the dry, unwelcoming Tyrannian landscape. Around her were the same bogs and rocks and mud she had seen every day for the last eighteen years. Although she'd never say it out loud, she was tired of all the same. Everybody around her seemed perfectly happy to stay in Tyrannia and live the same lives they'd lived forever. But not her. As she walked home, she passed over a river. She stopped, gazing at her reflection. Even her outer appearance didn't match what was going on outside. Eliss was a candy Aisha. Bright, shiny, and every color of the rainbow, she stuck out like a sore thumb. Her owner, Anna, told her she had chosen her color because, at the time, it was the newest color available, and she just knew Ellis would be "unlike any other Neopet out there." She wasn't far off. Ellis smiled at the thought of her owner, who had always been supportive of what she wanted to do. Her birthday was tomorrow, and she knew what she wanted to ask Anna for.
