Unique Hues This Petpet Appreciation Day!

      Christine: Hi! Everyone loves Petpets, don’t they?

     Angie: Anything that doesn’t bite.

     Christine: Well, there are plenty of loveable Petpets out there who wouldn’t hurt a fly, along with some vicious ones. This Petpet Appreciation Day, minds across Neopia turn to these interesting critters.

     Ella: Some are glamorous... I’ve had my Faerie Snowbunny for years.

     Maldice: Some are creepy, like my Mutant Clompkin.

     Christine: Finally, some are a unique colour which belongs only to them! Something you cannot paint. You pick them up as they are!

     Angie: I’m confused... Give an example.

     Christine: Like the Apple Spyder from the Apple Bobbing game... No other Petpet can be apple-coloured at the time of writing.

     Angie: Oh, I see.

     Christine: Therefore, in honour of Petpet Appreciation Day, I have rounded up some uniquely coloured Petpets for our viewing pleasure. Without further ado, here are the Petpets:

      ---Apple Spyder---

      Angie: Aaarrgghh!!! I know from first-hand experience that Spyders bite.

     Maldice: That’s why he’s in a cage. Don’t stick your fingers in, and you’ll be fine.

     Angie: True, but he’s still scary...

     Christine: As I said before, the Apple Spyder is a prize from the Apple Bobbing game in the Haunted Woods. However, you are better off buying it off of the Shop Wizard for mere pocket change, as the Apple Bobbing game can have negative effects as well.

     Ella: Like what?

     Maldice: The disease Blurred Vision. That’s what.

     Ella: Er... I’ll pass, then.

     Christine: Anyway, the Apple Spyder is made out of apples and their leaves. Nevertheless, it is still a Petpet, so don’t try to eat it, or I’m calling the PPL. Just wear gloves when handling it so that it doesn’t bite you.

     Angie: You can say that again... ---shudders---

      ---Geeky Geb---

      Christine: A Geb may look silly, but it is, in fact, very intelligent. I’d say that this Geeky Geb is at the top of his class!

     Ella: True... I wonder what that book is about.

     Maldice: Quantum physics, I hear.

     Ella: Er... I won’t be reading it, then.

     Angie: True... You might as well try to read a book in a language that is completely unfamiliar to you.

     Christine: I’m sure that the Geeky Geb could put it into layman’s terms, though.

     Ella: Nah, I’d still be lost. Chemistry and physics were my two worst subjects in high school.

     Angie: Same here!

      ---Handsome Horus---

      Christine: This dashing bird is wearing a beautiful ruby collar.

     Angie: Ooooh, I wonder if it’s a real ruby?

     Maldice: I think so... That’s what I’d come to expect from the Xendriks.

     Christine: True... This is Lyra’s favourite Petpet. It was a prize for participating in the Lyra and the Lost Heirloom event, but you can still buy it from other users.

     Ella: I hear it isn’t cheap...

     Angie: True, but the ruby is worth every penny! I wanna wear it myself...

     Maldice: You said that in Issue 857 (Exquisite Prizes: Lyra and Aurrick’s Favourite Items), and I told you that the Horus will peck you nonstop if you try to steal its necklace. Don’t you remember?

     Angie: Bleh... I guess I can’t have it, then.

      ---King Roo Baby Blu---

      Christine: He looks just like King Roo... Uncanny, isn’t it?

     Ella: Very true.

     Christine: This Baby Blu is wearing a golden crown and a velvety purple robe. He’s very regal.

     Angie: I wonder whether or not the crown is made of real gold.

     Maldice: Don’t be eyeing the Baby Blu’s crown too, Angie. I’m sure he would be very angry if you stole his crown.

     Ella: Plus, it’s too small for you.

     Angie: I could wear it as a ring. I always thought that the concept of a crown as a ring was very cute.

     Ella: There is plenty of jewellery you can buy without stealing from a Petpet.

     Maldice: Very true!

      ---King Skarl Erisim---

      Christine: Here is another Petpet themed after a king. This Erisim is wearing a golden crown and a velvety red robe, just like the real King Skarl.

     Angie: Er... I think Erisims are creepy. You can hear them in packs making cackling noises at night... They’re quite scary, really.

     Maldice: Well, I like things that are creepy and scary.

     Angie: Well, I don’t. ---shudders---

     Ella: I hear that there is another Petpet called King Skarls Snowbunny, but it is quite expensive and hard to find:

      Angie: It’s a shame... The Snowbunny is actually cute.

     Maldice: Nah, I like it when things are hard to find. Something common isn’t worth having...

     Christine: Very true!

      ---Princess Terrana Kookith---

      Christine: The Kookith is very loyal and cute. This one is themed after Terrana, the Gnorbu princess from Shenkuu Warrior.

     Angie: Which I was never any good at. Seriously, could YOU climb that mountain?!

     Maldice: No... Not my area of expertise. I’m a magician, not a gamer.

     Christine: Anyway, this Kookith, dressed like Princess Terrana, was a prize from the Games Master Challenge in 2018. Team Knights had to play Shenkuu Warrior, whereas Team Raiders had to play Kookia. You can still buy it from other users, though.

     Angie: I think that Kookia is much easier! I just wouldn’t want a million Kookiths in real life.

     Maldice: True. You’d be begging to erase them, just like in the game. Or you’d have to hire a real-life Petpetsitter...

      ---Winged Kookith---

      Christine: Another variety of Kookith. This one can fly, just like the Kookiths in Kookia.

     Ella: Awww... It looks like a little angel. All it needs is a golden halo!

     Maldice: You’ll stop saying that when Kookiths are swarming you by the millions...

     Christine: This Kookith was a prize from the Games Master Challenge in 2011. Both Team Brains and Team Brawn had to play Kookia to get it. You can still buy it from other users, though.

     Ella: Good, because I want one now...

     Maldice: You already have a Petpet.

     Ella: True, but I want two...

     Maldice: Unfortunately, that’s not how it works.

      ---Conclusion---

      Christine: So, what was everyone’s favourite Petpet?

     Ella: The Winged Kookith. So CUTE!!!

     Angie: Anything but that Apple Spyder! I can’t stand creatures that bite.

     Maldice: The King Skarl Erisim. I like Petpets that are creepy, such as the Erisim species.
