Fill Those Pet Slots: Additions on a Budget by _brainchild_
--------
---Starring Influir the (very snobby and spoiled) Pastel Gelert, Stepholla the Plushie Kacheek, Tivlia the Maraquan Blumaroo, and Christine, their owner!---
Christine: Welcome! With the arrival of the new pet slots in the NC Mall, some Neopians may be wondering how they can paint a snazzy new pet on a budget. Fear not, my friend, because this is where morphing potions come in. Sometimes, using a morphing potion to get a cool colour costs significantly less than buying the corresponding paintbrush--- Influir: Soooooooo lame! Paupers... Christine: Influir, please be nice. Besides, who wouldn’t want to save Neopoints? Influir: Me, because I have all the money in the world. I’m a rich girl. Tivlia: Would you mind sharing, then? ---winks--- Influir: Nope! Get your own! Stepholla: ---sigh--- Christine: Anyway, here are some lovely species/colour combinations that can be obtained from more affordable morphing potions. Each potion costs under 300k on the Shop Wizard at the time of writing. Influir: Cheap, cheap, CHEAP!!! Christine: ---sigh--- Influir, you’re not helping. Without further ado, here are the species/colour combinations:
---Eventide Korbat Morphing Potion---
Stepholla: Wow, the gradients and stars are so pretty! Influir: Yeah, but not as pretty as me. ---smirks--- Stepholla: ---sigh--- Christine: Both Influir and the Eventide Korbat are very gorgeous pets indeed. The Korbat is reminiscent of a beautiful sunset, complete with twinkling stars and both daytime and nighttime shades. Tivlia: Whatever. I prefer to go swimming underwater, which always looks the same regardless of the time of day. Stepholla: Yeah, but isn’t it colder at night? Tivlia: Us Maraquans are used to it.
---Faerie Mynci Morphing Potion---
Christine: Would you like to become a little butterfly? Then this potion is for you! Influir: No thanks, I’m not a fan of Chimeras. Seriously, who thought of combining a butterfly and a Mynci?! That mad Scorchio scientist over in that dingy lab? Stepholla: Well, I think that the Faerie Mynci is very pretty, and apparently Kauvara likes it, too, or else she wouldn’t have made the potion. Tivlia: It’s not my style, but hey, it’s not the ugly beast that you’re making it out to be, Influir. Stepholla: It’s gorgeous. I’d love to have a pair of butterfly wings. Influir: Then drink it, you imbecile. See if I care. Stepholla: You are so rude! Tivlia: I’m sure you can find a good-looking pair of wearable wings that you can attach to your existing Kacheek body, Stepholla.
---Pink Kyrii Morphing Potion---
Christine: Pretty in pink! A simple, yet classic colour. The Pink Kyrii Morphing Potion is a great way to obtain a pink pet while saving Neopoints--- Influir: Well, that would be lame. I settle for only the best! Christine: Anyway, if you feed a pink pet anything with the word “popcorn” in it, you’ll get this avatar:
Tivlia: Hehehe... I like that avatar. Stepholla: Meh... I’m not a fan of the skull. Influir: Like I care, you peasants. I’ll be flaunting my Super Attack Pea! avatar like the rich girl I am. Tivlia: Yet no amount of powerful Battledome weapons will allow you to win, you weakling--- Influir: Watch your mouth! Tivlia: It’s true. Our cousin Walda would pummel you in five seconds flat! Influir: She’d do the same to you. Like you can fight! Stepholla: Hey, it’s been well-established that none of us here right now are Battledome champions. Now let’s stop arguing, okay?
---Rainbow Gnorbu Morphing Potion---
Christine: If you can’t choose just one colour, then why not have them all? With a Rainbow Gnorbu Morphing Potion, you can do just that. Stepholla: Wow, the Gnorbu’s mane is so soft and silky! Influir: Not as nice as my beautiful hair. Stepholla: You are SO uppity, Influir... Christine: Gnorbus are known for their beautiful manes, but the hair can become difficult and time-consuming to manage, which leads some Gnorbus to shear it off. Stepholla: Awww... I think it’s pretty and worth the work. Influir: Yuck. A bald Gnorbu would be SO ugly! Stepholla: Influir, is it really that hard to be nice?
---Shadow Uni Morphing Potion---
Christine: With this colour, you are bound to blend in with the shadows! Tivlia: I love the purple horn. It reminds me of a seashell. Influir: Then glue a seashell to your forehead. Tivlia: Nah, it won’t be the same. Influir: ...That was not a SERIOUS suggestion, you imbecile. Tivlia: Hey, watch your mouth! Stepholla: Influir, please stop. Christine: Anyway, the Shadow Uni has striking sapphire-coloured eyes. No contacts needed! Tivlia: You’re right. I love that eye colour---it reminds me of the ocean!
---Water Flotsam Morphing Potion---
Christine: If you’d like to be an aquatic pet with a greater selection of wearables to choose from, look no further. Tivlia: You can say that again. As a Maraquan, I can’t wear all the latest styles. Influir: Then buy a paintbrush for a different colour, you pauper. Tivlia: Who are you calling a pauper?! Watch your mouth! Stepholla: I’m sure that there are positive aspects to being a Maraquan, too. Tivlia: She’s right. Maraquans are great swimmers. Influir: ...And so is the Water Flotsam, who can wear whatever she pleases. Tivlia: I thought you said that these morphing potions are for “paupers,” Influir. Influir: Ummm... My point still stands that Flotsams are good swimmers without clothing restrictions, okay?
---Conclusion---
Christine: So, what was everyone’s favourite potion? Stepholla: The Faerie Mynci Morphing Potion. The wings are so gorgeous and elegant! Tivlia: The Water Flotsam Morphing Potion. I love to swim! Influir: None of them. I’d wash them all down the sink. Paupers! Tivlia: ...And then, by mixing the potions together, you’d accidentally create some gigantic Gelatinous Non-Cube monster by means of a chemical reaction that none of us understand... (Storytelling 872) Christine: True. I don’t know how it works, but do not EVER mix together morphing potions! Anyway, I liked all of the potions, or else I wouldn’t have picked them. I think that every species/colour combination is special in its own way. Until next time, dear readers!
