Blumaroo Day: What Your Roo Wants To Do

by roxi2rox

--------

Once a year, this very popular species is celebrated all over Neopia. These odd little critters, with their big tails and droopy noses, seem somewhat awkward. However, this beloved creature is known for being a fun-loving and energetic species. This Blumaroo Day I wanted to share with you some ideas to treat your beloved pet by taking them to Roo Island, one of the most popular tourist destinations in all the land. There is very little documented of this small island that is easily missed on the map of Neopia, but with a population of around 280,000 of which mostly consist of Blumaroo, you’re sure to find some new friends!

     1. Play Dice-A-Roo

Have you forgotten about this absolute gem of a game? Well, guess who’s here to remind you! At only five neopoints per play, this game of chance allows you to win food, neopoints and a shiny new avatar! You even have a little Blumaroo buddy to chat to as you roll the dice, what more could you ask for?! Your Blumaroo is sure to enjoy every moment of the action. In fact, one of the species' favourite things to do is play games, so don’t deny them this pleasure on their special day! This game has been declared by King Roo as the official game of Roo Island, so it’s sure to make him happy to know that everyone comes from near and far to delight in the pleasures of Dice-A-Roo.

     2. Sight-Seeing Around Roo Island

Roo Island is a small island just off the coast of Neopia. Once you’ve finished playing all the games you can, it’s time for a bit of exercise! The island has everything a visitor could ever wish for. This includes a lovely beached area, mountain hikes and beautiful forests. Once you reach the peak of the hill, over near Blumaroo Roll, you will be able to see Neopia and many of the Flotsam playing happily in the waters that surround the Island.

One of the most popular activities is on the south side of the Island, where the sandy beaches are located. While the weather is still warm and sunny, it's time to go for a swim and try your hand at sailing one of the yachts just offshore. This might seem like a strange activity for the Blumaroo, with their awkwardly short arms and their hard-to-manoeuvre tails. However, they have over many years developed an art for the sport that is truly awe-inspiring. You have to see it to believe it, and luckily on Blumaroo Day there will be no shortage of locals demonstrating their craft for all to see.

     3. Coffee Shop

After playing a thrilling game of Dice-A-Roo and a long hike, you’ll need a pick-me-up to get through the rest of the day. Luckily enough, Roo Island has some of the most exquisite beverages to help you refresh yourselves. The Blumaroo are connoisseurs of coffee, and they take it very seriously. Have you noticed that your Blumaroo won’t accept just any coffee? No instant coffee here! Each batch of beans is roasted on-site to ensure that no flavour is lost. Each coffee has its beans freshly grounded, and the milk is lovingly steamed by carefully trained Roo’s. Don’t miss this! It will be a highlight of your day trip.

     4. Get Creative!

Not many people acknowledge this little tidbit of information, but the Blumaroo are an extremely creative bunch. Their little Island is home to the Art Gallery, Poetry Contest and Storytelling Competition. They historically pass their stories of Roo Island down through the art of storytelling, opposed to writing down their lore in books. These stories tell of how all the lands in Neopia were created, and if you’re kind, they’ll be more than happy to share some of these stories. If you’re not lucky enough to catch one on the day, the people of Roo Island do now write them down and record them, just as the rest of Neopia does. Hopefully, as more is written, more will come to light about the history of the Roo’s.

     5. Spot Some Royalty

This once very bored and sulky king is now the light of Roo Island! Ever since his discovery of Dice-A-Roo (Refer to point 1 for a refresher), he’s the life of the Island, and he’s often out and about playing his game and promoting it to others. Most days, pets and their owners can venture up to the castle walls. However, on Blumaroo Day the King decorates the castle to show the opulence of Roo Island. No expense is spared and I have one thing to say to you. Do not miss it! You’ll most likely spot him waving to you all from above.

     6. Pick-Up Something to Remember Your Fabulous Day

Roo Island has a few really underrated shops. Put a spring in your step and bounce by Springy Things. This is a store with springy versions of all your favourite neopet related toys. They have springs galore, for every occasion big and small. You never even knew you needed them, but trust me, you do.

Do you love Roo Island so much you don’t want to leave? Stop by Roo Island Souvenirs to pick up all your Blumaroo related must-haves! Whether it be a small trinket or whole pieces of neohome furniture, Roo Island Souvenirs will help you in any way you desire. It’s not uncommon for a visitor to redesign their entire neohome to match the interior design of the Blumaroo, as they have a knack for all things creative. There’s no shame in it! It is actively encouraged, and trust me, you’ll be glad you did.

Well that’s everything you’ll be able to squeeze into one day of bliss on Roo Island with your favourite Blumaroo. We hope you enjoy your very special day with your beloved pet! Just make sure you come back before nightfall, there’s one sneaky Roo that awakens at the strike of midnight, using games of chance to try and steal your pets hard-earned levels. Spooky.
