Ten Petpets that Deserve the Royal Treatment

by xiaolin10413

--------

There has been some excitement around petpets and new colors releases: long-neglected petpets have recently been discovered in new potential colors, much to all the Neopian’s and Neopet’s delight. However, there are still many petpets with very few, or even no extra colors besides their base color! Due to this gross overlooking, we have determined that these ten petpets deserve the royal treatment. Below is our list, and a written description of what we think they should look like in their new royal attire.

     Flippy

The Flippy is one of Neopia’s oldest petpets, and as such, is the first on our list of those most deserving of the royal treatment. Picture this adorable little aquatic petpet with all the classic trappings of its long-deserved royal status: a tasteful golden crown upon its tiny head, complete with deep green jewels set along the base, and ancient, green glowing jewels on each of its sturdy feet. Just imagine the majestic, fur-lined blue cape draped over the Flippy’s shell that waves elegantly as it swims in Neopia’s oceans. You could hardly paint a more regal picture than the Flippy bedecked in timeless royal fashion.

     Gratlik

The Gratlik is a humble petpet, hailing from the ancient city of Geraptiku on Mystery Island. With its base color, it blends seamlessly with the surrounding jungle- but what if this petpet were elevated to royal status? In keeping with island fashion, the Gratlik would look both dazzling and fearsome in a bone necklace and a luxurious, all-natural grass skirt embroidered with real tropical flowers. Of course, all royalty deserves a crown, but due to the nature of the Gratlik’s head, it may be difficult to custom fit that gold accessory. That said, a solution would be a crown of rare and brilliant flowers. A crown to show royalty, but a crown that also fit’s with the Gratlik’s aesthetic.

     Krikket

This jumpy-looking creature may not seem all that regal to you, but that just means you have no eye for potential! With a little TLC and a swipe of Neopia’s most glamorous paint brush, this petpet could exceed your wildest expectations. A royal Krikket would look just dashing in a floor-kissing gown of red satin trimmed in exotic (faux) furs. The Kirkket would also do well holding a regal staff made of gold and topped with a sparkling red jewel, and of course, the matching crown perched on top of its head. Lastly, we believe the Krikket would more easily settle into its new position with a light-blue based color. Perhaps this little bit of luxury is just what this petpet needs to soothe its nervous disposition.

     Nebularis

The Nebularis could easily be said to be one of Neopia’s most breathtaking petpets, even in its natural, unpainted state. But what better way to elevate its ethereal beauty than to paint it royal? Imagine the Nebularis with a glittering cloud of space dust that sparkles with diamonds and sapphires like stars in the night sky. A tiny diamond crown that gently floats above the petpet to add that dash of superiority, and some red contact lenses that make its eyes glow like rubies -- there truly would not be any more captivating petpet in the entire galaxy.

     Orp

Have you ever seen a petpet with so much royal potential?! The Orp is just waiting for an opportunity to shine as it swims through the Neopian seas as ruler of its own little realm of oceandom. Like all the other’s the Orp deserves a crown, and we think a shell crown that was manually chiseled and shaped would do the job nicely for this little petpet. Decked out in a fine white veil draped over its dainty nose and small golden piercings gleaming on its fins, the Royal Orp would be sure to be a show-stopper in the deeps of Maraqua- or wherever it chooses to roam!

     Piraket

This pirate petpet already has the attitude one would expect from a royal, but why not give it an outfit to match? The Piraket would be sure to charm even the most skeptical of foreign dignitaries in a long beaded necklace and and a handmade feathered cape. An ancient, brilliant-gold crown to match these other pieces would be the cherry on top of this regal petpet. Of course, the Piraket would never admit to where these articles came from, but it’s safe to assume that treasure hunting pays quite well.

     Pyon

Don’t be fooled by the Pyon’s small size and cute appearance; this petpet is known for its formidable tracking skill, and that stinger on its tail is no joke. These traits give the Pyon an understated air of authority, which would only be further accentuated in a royal color. Imagine the Pyon as a soft orange color, with a cluster of delicate golden bangles along the length of its tail and jeweled pendants dangling from its stings. Matching golden bracelets around each of its six legs and a thin gold band adjourning it’s head would complete the Pyon’s royal look. These accessories would be sure to both awe and intimidate.

     Sandpoint

You may think it’s a daunting task to give a petpet made of seaweed the royal treatment, but you’d be wrong! The Sandpoint is just one mud-conditioning-mask-treatment away from royalty. Just imagine it adorned in sparkling seashells dangling from its...er...organic protrusions. Give it a pair of some of the finest made royal slippers, and a staff that matches the beauty of the ocean and the island. Top that off with a starfish hair ornament, and nothing could compete with such a fresh, yet classic look that would fit right in on or off the tropical coasts of Mystery Island.

     Scout Unit

The Scout Unit may seem an unconventional choice to receive the royal treatment, but don’t be deceived! This robot pet has much to offer, and its versatile metal casing offers infinite opportunities for showcasing some royal splendor. Take, for example, the possibility of a hand wrought armor casing engraved with intricate designs and inlaid with multicolored filigree. A clean-cut, no-nonsense platinum crown would top of this sleek metallic royal petpet. Unorthodox, perhaps -- but uniquely regal nonetheless.

     Tekkal

This Tekkal isn’t always easy to spot, hidden among the ruins of Geraptiku, but it already has the makings of a striking royal petpet. Why not make it stand out among the crumbling stones? The broad halo around the Tekkal’s head lends itself as a crown, perfect for inlaid gemstones plucked from the ruined temple. Its sturdy neck is well suited to support a heavy brilliant medallion pilfered from the rubble- which may or may not be cursed. Brighten up the Tekkal’s base color to be as dazzling gold as all the other royal petpets, and you’ve got an ancient royal that’s sure to hold up with the rest of them.

That’s the end of our list of these long-forgotten petpets that definitely deserve the royal treatment. What ideas would you like to see for these royal petpets? Which ones are you most excited about! Neopia will be waiting with bated breath for the next regal petpet to make its appearance!
