A Battle Cry For Tyrannian Victory Day

by lolinlucy

--------

A long, long time ago, in the undocumented times of our beloved planet, a massive earthquake devastated northern Neopia isolating a very dry and large sandstone plateau and a dense jungle of sweltering heat from the rest of planet. Consequently, this unique area from which many Neopets find their origin became a lost tribe, a land untouched, a civilization left to fall or flourish alone while the rest of the world progressed without it.

It wasn't until centuries later, on the 21st day in the month of Running of Year 3, that a monumental earthquake would once more shake the land and create a fissure in the neighboring Ice Caves of Terror Mountain, splitting it down the middle. The deep groove would soon fill with lava that would cool and become a tunnel leading downward into the earth through which brave Neopets readily traversed, only to be met by heavy, and seemingly impenetrable, thick roots and vegetation. However, as happenstance would have it, a friendly, albeit large and hungry, Chomby soon tore through the foliage to reveal a "new" Neopian land --Tyrannia.

Quite possibly the oldest civilization on Neopia, the formerly buried land had remained rather prehistoric with it's citizens residing mainly in a village known as Tyrammet in the deepest part of the Tyrannian Jungle. The neopets of this village were unaware of the rest of the world just as Tyrannia was unbeknownst to modern civilization at that time. Although the language is somewhat unrefined and primitive, Tyrannia is a republic and was (and still is) governed by Kyruggi, the Grand Elder, a kind and compassionate Tyrannian Kyrii, along with a council of chosen elders who meet in times of emergency at a vast rock known as the Tyrannian Town Hall on the plateau.

The curious newfound land held wonders for adventurers with fauna so distinctive of the warm and humid jungle climate that a multitude of plants could thrive only there. Located west of the freezing climate of Terror Mountain, the blistering heat of the plateau is a striking disparity, making it all the more intriguing for Neopians from every other nation. Tyrannia is, in fact, so unique that Pterodactyls, Bargasauruses, and Gargaraptors, still roam the area, and it's citizens often feast on the two latter beasts. But the marvels of this great nation don't stop there. A giant omelette (rumoured to be laid by "a dinosaur of GIGANTIC proportions"), big enough to feed not only those that reside in Tyrannia, but a significant amount of Neopians from around the world, finds its home on the plateau and bakes in the scorching temperatures that grace the area. Strangely enough, once the omelette is all gone, a new enormous egg mysteriously appears the next night so that the Tyrannians will never go hungry.

Initially met with warm welcome, Tyrannia, with its untapped resources and treasures untold, soon became a target for more sinister characters preying on an archaic land of more primal pets (with primal weapons and primal war tactics). In just a week or so following its rediscovery, Myncha, the Tyrannian Reconnaissance Elder, from the mud flats to the north Tyrannia, spotted some adversarial new visitors. It was the Korbat Scouts, who we now know were the precursor to a hoard of hostile invading armies. Fortunately, Grarrg, the Tyrannian Battle Master Elder, had the knowledge and forethought to rally the Tyrannian Army with courageous Neopets from around the globe willing to aid them.

They came in merciless waves. The Korbat Scouts lead by Feemix were the first to strike, but, small and weak, they were easily defeated in battle. Then, Gragarex and his army of Grarrl Troopers attacked along with Slychi and his Skeith Invaders. Stronger, they were more difficult to defeat, but the Tyrannians, along with their brave Neopian brethren, prevailed. Next came the Chia Bombers with Grackle, their leader, but it didn't end there. They came to pillage and plunder. Ukkrah and his legion of Fire Grarrls stormed the plateau preceding Tyragh and his swarm of Tyrannian Buzzes; each battalion even more lethal than the last. Then came the Grarrl Battlemasters, a final brigade of foes to fortify the enemy lines. Week after week, the assaulting intruders were unrelenting. Remarkably, Tyrannia and its Neopians stood strong and were able to fight off the unwelcome guests. Until, that is, the Monoceraptor.

An absolute mammoth of a monster with tough and leathery battle-scarred skin, the dreaded Monoceraptor, the assumed leader of the invasion, ripped through soldier after soldier. It seemed as though all the bloodshed and fighting had been for nought; Tyrannia would be conquered and the masses would meet their doom when, miraculously, an unnamed hero emerged in the form of a single Lupe that would bring down the menacing Monoceraptor.

This is the story of the Tyrannian War.

In just two days time, we will raise our glasses to celebrate Tyrannian Victory Day on the 12th day of Hunting. We need to remember. We need to retell the story so it will not be forgotten. Eighteen Years ago, for two months, Neopians of all species, of all backgrounds, of all levels, came together to defend a nation in need. Why? Simply because it was just and right and because Tyrannia, like all the other nations, belongs to our world; it is a part of OUR Neopia.

We need to spread the word that we remember the battle and how bravely we fought. We need it to ring loud and true that if a day should come again that threatens our peace, we will rally and stand fearless and noil-hearted in the face of danger. We need to scream this, our battle cry, at the top of our lungs, dripping in war paint, to the mysterious villian who spoke this threat from the shadows on that day of celebration in Year 3:

"That puny creature of mine has failed... but Neopia has not yet seen the last of me... I will return... oh, yes... I will return."

We, too, will return and defeat you and any mob, militia, or monster you send our way. This is OUR Neopia.
