5 Underrated NC Items You Could Be Using

by gameboyknight

--------

Today, I want to share with you some NC items that I think are underrated and undervalued by the general NC community. Maybe you’ve heard of these items, but I also think some of you may not have! For that reason, I want to highlight them, explain what makes them so underrated and fantastic, and give you some brief recommendations as to which other items pair well with them, as well as pets that might highlight these items’ best features. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to customize these items or your pets. You do you, but maybe you’ll do you with these items in mind!

1. MiniMME9-B: Splashing Puddles

It is a well-known fact that some of the most difficult pets to customize are Maraquan. While TNT is doing their best to release more and more Maraquan-compatible wearables, it can often feel as though creativity in customizing Maraquans is stifled by the limited pool of underwater and Mara wearables. But what if I told you that you don’t need to choose from underwater, ocean, or river backgrounds in order to make your Maraquan pet feel right at home in the water? Enter, MiniMME9-B: Splashing Puddles! This item serves as a foreground that continually splashes water over the pet in the customization, keep them refreshed and positively wet! This way, you can customize a Maraquan pet, a Jetsam, a Peophin, a Flotsam, among others, on land without taking them too far from their beloved water! This opens up tons of opportunities for cross-themed customizations, so your creativity can branch beyond a pet being simply underwater or simply at the beach. Let your imagination run wild with MiniMME9-B: Splashing Puddles!

• Recommended wearable pairing: MiniMME9-B: Splashing Puddles + Lost Desert Oasis Background

• Recommended pet pairing: MiniMME9-B: Splashing Puddles + Maraquan Acara

2. Protective Force Field

Another difficult pet to customize within its natural theme is the 8-bit pet, super cute and nostalgia-inducing pixels. Considering many of the newest 8-bit pets have been well-received, including the Cybunny and the Hissi, more and more users are beginning to customize them! While the juxtaposition of the 8-bit pet and the more realistic wearables is totally cute, those who are looking to stick to the 8-bit theme have limited options. This is where the Protective Force Field might come in handy! This awesome NC item completely covers the 8-bit pet in 8-bit action fun, mimicking the look of some video game classics and adding great movement to the customization!

• Recommended wearable pairing: Protective Force Field + Noxious Gas Planet Background

• Recommended pet pairing: Protective Force Field + 8-bit Wocky

3. Robertas Collectors Veiled Wig

I am going to go out on a limb and make an outrageous claim about this next item, the Robertas Collectors Veiled Wig: it looks good on EVERY Neopet. I know, I know, but I dare you to go to test this and neomail me if you disagree. We all know TNT does their best to make NC items fit each and every Neopet wonderfully, but undoubtedly, certain items look better on certain pets; not every NC item is the same, and not every Neopet is the same! That’s life. But every once in a while, a beautiful and well-fitted NC item arrives and deserves to take Neopia by storm. That, I believe, has never been as true as it is with the Robertas Collectors Veiled Wig! This fantastic wig will heighten the ‘classy factor’ of your next customization with its demure veil and historically-inspired locks, and the conversation wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the wig’s gorgeous sky blue color that works in almost any theme.

• Recommended wearable pairing: Robertas Collectors Veiled Wig + Silver and Blue Facepaint

• Recommended pet pairing: Robertas Collectors Veiled Wig + Yellow Ruki

4. Commemorative Neopets Plush Tag

When it comes to UC pets, there tends to be two trains of thinking: 1) UC pets should be customized minimally or not at all in order to emphasize their classic, nostalgic quality; or 2) UC pets should be customized like any other converted Neopet. Both are perfectly acceptable methods! TNT did us a fun favor by introducing the Neopets Circle Background in the NC Neopian Elite Shop. For those who are a fan of that minimal look but either don’t have access to that shop or are looking for something a little different, check out the Commemorative Neopets Plush Tag! This large background item will turn your pet into a classic, real life Neopets plush – or, at least, remind you of one. Close enough!

• Recommended wearable pairing: Commemorative Neopets Plush Tag + Starry Blue Background

• Recommended pet pairing: Commemorative Neopets Plush Tag + UC Plushie Buzz

5. Flower Parasol

Like the previous item I discussed, the next item I would like to showcase takes up a fantastic amount of space in the background, regardless of the fact it is a handheld item. The Flower Parasol is a large, animated branch of flowers that stands above and behind most converted pets. The aesthetic this provides is great for those who want a statement piece that doesn’t overcrowd a customization. Whether the pet is holding the item or it stands next to them, the size of the parasol and the flowers moving in the invisible wind compliments a plethora of themes and pets. This is a great alternative to both busy garlands and the extensive number of handhelds you might have to search through to find the perfect one. Plus, it’s gorgeous!

• Recommended wearable pairing: Flower Parasol + Field of Flowers Foreground

• Recommended pet pairing: Flower Parasol + Faerie Blumaroo

There we have it! Now it’s your turn to put down the Cloud Castle Background, the Dream Catcher Garland, and the Mint and Aqua Flower Wig in favor of some underrated, unique items that will really make your pet stand out and inspire some super creative NC customizations! Remember that the single most important thing you should consider when customizing your pets is how much YOU like the way the look, because they are your little pixels and no one else’s. Happy customizing!

Finding Your Great Guild
As luck would have it, I clicked the link too quickly and found myself on the Guild Board instead! Instead of clicking the back button, however, I stopped to look at the guilds that were being advertised as fond memories of being part of guilds throughout the years flashed in my mind. This, I thought, was where my Neopets adventure was going to take me.
