Book Reviews and Recommendations: Ixi Day Edition by panda_baby150
--------
Hello, friends! Time for another set of book reviews! My Kau, Prettyful_me and I absolutely LOVE reading, so we spend a lot of time reading all kinds of books together. Over the years, we have read a LOT of books, so she and I decided to start reviewing them. This time we decided to review books in honor of Ixi Day (11th day of Swimming), so we invited _Ixiish_, my Ixi, to join us in the book reading and reviewing fun! Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I have put together a list of our favorites (and not-so-favorites) so you can learn all about the wonderful Ixi!First, we wanted to learn all we could about Ixi. For Ixi Day, you might as well know everything you can to fully appreciate the celebration, right? We were surprised to find that there are not very many informational books dedicated to the Ixi, but we did find a few. Here are some of our recommendations: 1) The Ixi Book: This is the perfect book for Ixi Day. It will tell you pretty much anything you could want to know about Ixi, whether you are an Ixi or just want to learn about them. This book is an interesting, insightful, and comprehensive resource about Ixi. Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks. 2) Ixi A-Z: While this book contains lots of interesting Ixi facts, it is definitely meant for a younger audience. The information is boiled down to the most important facts and put into easily understandable terms. There are also lots of fun photographs and illustrations. If you have kids who are interested in learning about Ixi, this is the perfect book for them! Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 3.5 out of 5 bookmarks. Okay! Now that you know all about Ixi, why not learn about some of the most well-known Ixi in Neopia? We all know about Tarla, who owns the Shop of Mystery, Sophie the Swamp Witch who stars in the game Sophie’s Stew, and Sinsi, creator of the puzzle game Shapeshifter. But how much do you really know about them? Why not learn a little more about the lives of these and other fascinating Ixi? We found some books that will help you do just that! Here are some of our recommendations: 1) The Marriage of Prince Jazan: This book is not strictly about an Ixi, but it does heavily feature Nabile, the pink Ixi thief of royal lineage who married Prince Jazan (now known as King Jazan) to help break the curse on Qasala and restore it to its former glory. Nabile is now known in Qasala as a just and kind queen. So if you want to learn a little more about not only the broken Qasalan curse, but also one of the greatest Ixi in Neopia, this is the book for you! Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 4.5 out of 5 bookmarks. 2) Sinsi: An Autobiography: Ever wondered about the life of Sinsi? Why not hear about if from Sinsi herself! Sinsi is the brilliant young designer of Shapeshifter. In the book, she tells stories of the creation and first beta tests of this game. It drove her friends crazy - in the best way possible, of course! After the discovery of Meridell, it became a hit all over Neopia. Sinsi’s book is a compelling read. Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks. 3) Interesting Ixi: This book is filled with the fascinating true stories of the adventures of Ixi throughout the history of Neopia. These are not in-depth biographies, but short snippets about the adventures of Ixi such as Tarla, Sophie, Commander Valka, the Ixi Chemist, and many more. Interesting Ixi is a truly wonderful book. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll learn about amazing Ixi you never knew of before. Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks. Finally, my pets and I love reading fiction. We poked around the library and found some stories about Ixi. Here are some of our recommendations: 1) Briar the Ixi: Briar is a young Ixi who is found lost and alone at the beginning of the novel. Who is he? Where did he come from? Why is he hiding under such a prickly branch? You will find out the answers to all of these questions and more. Not a work of great literature, but it is still a cute little story and full of lovely illustrations. Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 3.5 out of 5 bookmarks. 2) The Ixi Ghost Legend: This book has every element a good ghost story should have. This is not the book for you if you are looking for cheap thrills. It is masterfully written – well thought out characters, plot, and full of twists that will keep you on your toes. The author creates genuine moments of terror that will send shivers down your spine. You won’t be able to read this without hiding under your covers! If you’re a fan of ghost stories, keep an eye out for this one at the Magical Bookshop! Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I give this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks. 3) Illusens Ixi: Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I had quite a difference of opinion about this book. _Ixiish_ absolutely LOVED it. In her words, it is “the best book in the history of the whole entire universe.” She loves Illusen, Ixi, magic, nature – this book has it all. However, Prettyful_me HATED the book. There was a lot of eye-rolling as we were reading it. She thought it was “super boring and dumb.” Not an eloquent review, but certainly an honest one. I thought that was a bit harsh. In my opinion, the book was pretty good. Not great, not terrible. I liked the story, I liked the characters, but the writing was a bit lacking. _Ixiish_ gives this book 5 out of 5 bookmarks. Prettyful_me gives this book 1 out of 5 bookmarks. I give this book 3 out of 5 bookmarks. So, check out a few of these books to learn about the Ixi, to learn about famous Ixi of Neopia, or to settle down with a good story about Ixi. I hope this list comes in handy for you! Prettyful_me, _Ixiish_, and I wish you a happy Ixi Day!
