Choosing the Right Altador Cup Team for You by jockylocky
--------
ALTADOR COLOSSEUM - It was Darigan Versus Maraqua, Layton Vickles slithered around the arena, passing the notorious Elon "The Blackhole" Hughlis. The fire Yooyu became hotter every second as Tonie Plessix became larger and larger in Layton's view. Layton rose his right wing, and shot the Yooyu towards the goal. Seconds felt like hours, as the fire Yooyu slowly landed inside the goal. SCORE! Darigan Citadel beat Maraqua! The crowd went wild, screaming as Team Darigan swarmed around Layton Vickles, lifting him high and celebrating their victory! The time has come. The Altador Cup returns for its third year, ever since Altador's one thousand year hiatus. Supporters of Meridell, Roo Island and Tyrannia are super excited; it's finally here! But just like every year, the main dilemma also returns. Which team should you support?
There are many ways to help you decide which team you should go for, as well as many factors that you should consider. I'm hoping that this article will really help you decide if Faerieland just isn't the right team for you! The Team Rosters
Logically speaking, the players do diddly squat when it comes to winning Altador Cup matches. The whole Team Roster thing is just for show! But really, do you want to support a team with "The Blackhole" Hughlis, one of the most selfish players in all of the Altador Cup? Some people do, some people don't. However, unfortunately, this reporter's opinion doesn't. It is fun to look at all the rosters and see which players are pretty good, but I wouldn't suggest picking out a team with the best players; it just won't help you, sadly.
Take the Quiz!
Ah, the quiz! A kind Quiggle that oddly looks like someone from the Clubs in Altador is here to help YOU decide which team you should choose! This quiz asks you some rather spontaneous questions, such as if Jelly World exists! Well, we all know that it does NOT exist, of course, so there is only one answer for that. Anyone else who believes it does should probably be taken to the Meepit Oaks Sanatorium! Back to the point, a fairly large group of people speculate that the quiz results are indeed random; no one is quite sure yet, but Altador Cup Officials are looking into this matter. (However, they are taking a long time considering the speculation started in Year 8 already!)
Who Won Last Year?
You freeloader! Okay, maybe you're not and you really want to give your all in the upcoming Altador Cup tournament. So, what better way than to join whoever won last year? I mean, it's a surefire hit, right? Well, you're wrong. Everyone knows that the Altador Cup is pretty unpredictable. I mean, who knows? Maybe Faerieland will make the ultimate comeback this year, winning the majorly sought after trophy? I mean, take a look at the Haunted Woods. They won the Y8 tournament, and look! In the Altador Cup II championship, they dropped all the way down to #7 (ranked by The Altador Cup Committee, by who knows what requirements!) from #1! Another big shocker for both Haunted Woods supporters and non supporters alike.
Although I doubt Darigan Citadel will want freeloaders (Although since they beat Roo Island last year, go ahead and freeload!) there is a possibility they won't even make the Top 4, such as the Haunted Woods. So maybe this isn't a good idea? I've said it before, (and probably will continue to say it!) it's really up to you. Do I Actually like the Team I'm Supporting?
The ultimate question, if you ask me. I mean, do you really like the team you're currently rooting for? I mean sure you sort of like Shenkuu's logo.. but, Brightvale's is so much cooler! I mean, do you really want to support a team that plays really good, but you like another team better? Well... that sort of loses the whole point of the game! The Altador Cup is supposed to be fun, not a challenge to get the best trophy. Sure, it's cool but... don't you want to proudly gloat about the team you prefer? Exactly. If you prefer Faerieland over Tyrannia, go to Faerieland by all means! Choose the team you want to choose. You shouldn't run around the Neoboards yelling "Choose my Altador Cup Team for me!" and end up with Virtupets when you know that you want to support Mystery Island deep down.
It's Between Two Teams.. Which Do I Choose?
Ah, you narrowed down fourteen teams and you're left with two choices. Or you might end up with three, or four! The dilemma remains the same; how do I narrow it down even more? This is a question even I can't solve, only give you the best advice. Krawk Island, or Maraqua? Yep, it's tough. What I suggest are two things: A) Take time. You don't have to sign up for a team right away! Heck, you got time (hopefully by the time this article is published!) before the Sign Ups are up. Take a close look and try to think why you like this team, and why you like this other team, and compare. B) Which team did you sign up before? If this is your first year, you might as well read on, but for us old timers, this could be a good solution. Basically, which teams did you sign up last year, or the year before? Did you really like that team that you supported, and are you ready to shout it up to the rooftops? Or did you cower and lie on the Neoboards, saying you were on another team? Well, I really wouldn't suggest the latter; if you're that embarrassed, it's most likely not the best team. (Although I could be wrong!) Take a look why you chose that team. Maybe that reason could help you with choosing the team you want now.
Which Team are You Choosing?
Me? Right! Of course I have a team for this year's Altador Cup; I wouldn't be making this article if I was having a tough time choosing! (A bit redundant, if you ask me.) Well, the team I'm personally choosing is Krawk Island, based on many factors. I'll list them here, and hopefully this will help you decide as well.
I really like Dasher Soley, which is actually my favorite player in all of the Altador Cup rosters. I also like the fact that Krawk Island is persistent, but hasn't won yet. They're not the best team, but they definitely have a shot of making the Top 3. I also really liked the team from the start, and always thought the supporters were very nice on the Neoboards (from what I encountered, anyway!) and they seem like a pretty tough bunch with many dedicated supporters. Of course, I'm not trying to persuade anyone to Krawk Island (although...); it's what I prefer and I bet you have a different opinions.
It's Up to You.
That's right, you. I believe this article has done its purpose, and I sure hope you enjoyed it. But in the end, no one in all of Neopia can decide for what you want. So, I must wish you good luck with trying to find the team that suits your needs, and wish that team great luck and fortune on the field. Who knows what many changes The Altador Cup Committee has in store for us this year!
