September 1, Y9 Dear Diary,
Today was the first day of Neoschool. I was so excited to get to class! I got a super nice teacher named Ms. Aishakin. I made tons of new friends today, like Cliff the purple Tonu and Misty the red Kacheek. However, I also met someone who was not so friendly: Moe the blue Grarrl. He told me that he was going to make me give him my lunch ticket! I managed to avoid him the rest of the day, though. Lucky I am a Shoyru. Whenever I saw Moe coming my way, I just flew down the hallway. Lunch was safe with me!
My first lunch was a sausage and cheese pasty with a carton of milk. I don't really think it would have mattered if Moe had taken my ticket, though; he took someone else's ticket and devoured Misty's blueberry scone and milk in thirty seconds! I felt really bad, so I offered her half of my pasty. At recess, I played Yooyuball with Misty, Cliff, and some of the jocks. We couldn't use a real Yooyu, of course, so we had to use a crumpled up issue of the Neopian Times. Talk about a boring game. Oh yeah! I saw a notice for the annual school play. This year's play is called "The Buzzer Who Cried Werelupe." It sounded really fun! I can't wait to see it! -Miley September 2, Y9 Dear Diary,
In class today, Ms. Aishakin taught us about Maraqua. It was really interesting to hear about Maraqua's past and present. We learned all about when Maraqua was the Maraquan Ruins, and the war against the Pirates. Millie the Moehog even brought in some Maraquan Gumbo for us to sample! It was quite disgusting, actually. I swear I can still feel the octopus arms wiggling in my stomach. That feeling makes me want to throw up. Gross.
Before the bell rang for lunch, Ms. Aishakin read us a Maraquan faerie tale from a thick book. It was such a good story, even Moe begged to hear more! Speaking of Moe, he seemed awfully hungry today at lunch. He ate Mille's lunch and a few other lunches. I wonder why he doesn't just bring a lunch from home. Maybe he has no lunch box? It is truly a mystery that no one can seem to uncover. After school, Cliff came up to me and said: "Hey Miley, why don't you try out for the school play? Misty is. She wants you to try out with her." I am still considering it. Maybe it will be fun! Tryouts are tomorrow. I think I will try out for one of the smaller parts. I have a little stage fright. Well, I'd better go take a bath. Mom will be lecturing if I don't use that expensive bubble bath she bought.
-Miley September 3, Y9 Dear Diary,
Moe wasn't in class very much today. Most of the class was relieved. I'm sure that Moe's absence at lunch saved a lot of lunches. I had to bring my lunch today, because I forgot to buy more lunch tickets. Mom packed me a peanut butter and jam sandwich, a morsel of pineapple, and a carton of apple juice. Yum! I was so glad that Mom didn't pack me one of her vegetarian lunches. She is such a health freak! I am glad I got a sandwich and pineapple instead of organic fruit and tofu.
The play tryouts were this afternoon! I was so psyched to try out with Misty. Misty is sort of shy, and she doesn't like to be the center of attention. I, on the other hand, am outgoing. However, I, too, don't like being the center of the crowd. But, hey, opposites attract! When we got to the auditorium, Misty and I took our seats and listened to a boring speech from Principal Pawspring. Finally, the director began calling up people by name and giving them a script and some instructions. Time flew by, and the number of students in the auditorium shrank. Boy, a lot of students knew their material! Pretty soon, Misty was called up. She read her section of the script, hopped off the stage, and sat next to me. "How'd I do?" she asked. I told her she did great! Misty is a shoo-in for a good part. After an energetic Ixi gave her performance, I was called up. I was shaking when the director handed me the script. The director was very secretive. I couldn't see his - or her - face. I read my section, and got off that stage, FAST! Misty was giving me a thumbs-up sign, which made me feel great. I sure hope I made the cast list.
-Miley September 4, Y9 Dear Diary, Misty and I both made the cast list! I was shocked to hear that I got one of the main parts! Misty got a smaller part, and she seemed happy with it. I was so glad for us both. Cliff promised to be on the stage crew. Although, something tells me he only did that because there is a cast and crew luncheon after the play.... Frankly, I have been seeing less and less of Moe each day. The rumors have been flying. So far I've heard that he had food poisoning. Misty recalls hearing that he had been skipping class. No one knows the actual truth. Ms. Aishakin gave us our class time after lunch to paint a picture of our best friends. We were supposed to turn it in after the weekend. I painted Misty and Cliff, of course. When I turned to see who Moe was painting, his paper was empty, and Moe was staring down at the paper in dismay. I felt really bad for him. Does he have any friends? I made a promise to try and talk to him after school. When the final bell rang, I grabbed my backpack and hung around a bit until Moe was finished packing his things. When he faced me, I said: "Hi, Moe. How was your day?" I tried to smile big. Moe looked puzzled and said: "Fine." We walked out of class together. On the way home, Moe started talking a lot about his hobbies and such. I talked with him, and I realized that Moe really isn't all bad. Well, I'm late for play rehearsal. Bye! -Miley September 5, Y9 Dear Diary,
Today is Saturday! When I got up this morning, Mom had whipped up a batch of waffles with bits of carrot and celery in them. Gross! I quickly told Mom I was going out to Neopia Central. I grabbed my jacket and coin purse and left the house before Mom had time to question why I didn't want her, um, delicious waffles.
I stopped by the book shop and picked up a copy of Maraquan Faerie Tales. Then, I ran into Moe. He was out running a quick errand for his Mom. I asked him what he was buying. He stuck out his tongue and said he was getting spinach pizza for dinner. I made a face and told him that my mom makes me eat spinach pizza all the time. Well, she does! Moe laughed and headed off toward Roo's Pizza. After I ate a hot dog for lunch, I walked back home for a bath and dinner. Now, it's time for bed. -Miley September 6, Y9 Dear Diary, The day of the play! The director insisted on hosting the play on Sunday so it wouldn't eat up our class time. Mom showed up early for a good seat. Before the play started, I sat down and really thought. This was my time to shine, and I intended to try my best and impress my classmates. Soon, Cliff raised the curtain, and the play was on! The actors said their parts with no flubs at all! Soon, it was my turn to speak. I said my paragraph without forgetting my lines! I was so happy. Misty said her lines without mistakes, too. Soon, Cliff drew the curtain, and the audience stood up and clapped wildly. Misty and I were so happy!
After the audience left, and I got a hug from Mom, the luncheon started. The director stood and cleared his throat. The cast and crew kept guessing at who the mystery director was, because no one could see his - or her - face. When the director took off his hat, the whole room gasped. Underneath that hat was none other than the face of Moe. Moe gave a speech on how happy he was with all of us. After the luncheon, I walked home with Moe, Misty, and Cliff. We all agreed that Moe was the best director in Neopia!
-Miley September 7, Y9 Dear Diary, Today we turned in our paintings. I was worried that Moe would fail, because he had no picture on his paper. When Moe came in the classroom, he had a huge grin plastered to his face. When he turned in his paper, he was still smiling. Moe sat with me at lunch. He ate his own lunch today. I smiled at him and munched on my pastrami sandwich. When we got back to the classroom, all of the best friend pictures were hanging up. It was then that I spotted Moe's painting. On the paper, in bright blue paint, was a picture of me. It was then that I realized: no matter who we are, where we live, or what people we meet, friends come along when you least expect it. -Miley
