Quote of the Week

Skyleur had never thought of herself as evil. She wielded the darkness, yes, but it was a sacred thing, not an evil one. She dabbled in secrets and forbidden things, not because she meant harm with them, but because there was power in them, power to shape and change the world.

Fall Favourites from the Coffee Cave

It's almost autumn, which means it's time to bring a book to your favourite cosy corner of the Coffee Cave, wear your warmest sweater, and enjoy a fall-themed drink. Let your favourite Shoyru barista bring you a comforting autumn drink while you watch the leaves gently fall outside of Roo Island. It's highly recommended to check out these drinks as a caffeine boost before visiting the Haunted Woods for your favourite fall activities - apple picking, hayrides, carnival games, and trick-or-treating! Here is a list of comfy, cosy drinks to keep you company this autumn, ranging from the intensely sweet candy corn to the warm and comforting fall apple. While these coffee and tea drinks are generously available year-round at the iconic Coffee Cave, they are best enjoyed right in the middle of the best season - autumn! Pumpkin Spice Coffee A simple fall classic that can't be beat, and it smells as good as it looks. Rich, black coffee has been seasoned with pumpkin pie spices and topped with whipped cream, sweetening your daily caffeine rush into an autumn treat. The beautiful sprouting pumpkin mug elevates your typical coffee cup into a whimsical drink - it would look right at home in any Earth Faerie's kitchen. I'm told that even Edna the Witch occasionally ventures outside of Haunted Woods in disguise to pick up this favourite sweet treat, but you didn't hear that from me! Best recommended to pair with a good, long book from Booktastic Books.

Top 10 Mutant Neopet Colours

If there's one thing we all love, it's new colours. But one colour a lot of Neopians never think about is Mutant. It's not hard to see why; Mutants were created by Dr. Sloth, and no one wants to be associated with him. That, and almost nobody makes clothes for Mutants! But somehow, transmogrification potions are still a hot commodity, costing upwards of 900,000 NP! So if you plan on buying one, you'd better make sure you're getting the species potion that's right for you. And that's where I come in! See, Mutant is a colour I find incredibly interesting, so I figured, "why not rank what species look best mutated?" So here you go, my list of the Top 10 Mutant Neopian Species! 10. Flotsam The Mutant Flotsam is not a complicated beast, just two extra pairs of eyes and some extra dorsal fins, but that's where the beauty of it is. Some might be put off by their strangely-shaped mouths or green drool, but come on, these are Mutants! If there's nothing particularly off-putting about them, they might as well just be painted. Besides, those extra dorsal fins add a certain coolness to the typically-cute species...and speaking of cute, don't you dare try to tell me those six eyes aren't the most adorable things you've ever seen! 9. Vandagyre Halving the number of eyes, we have the Mutant Vandagyre! The most appealing features of the Vandagyre -- their big eyes, small beak, philanges, and tail feathers -- have been distorted in the best ways possible.

Typing Terror Avatar -- Obtainable Guide

Growing your avatar collections can be hard when you're down to mainly games and stamps. Playing a game over and over and over again can be so frustrating--but it can also be so worth it when you finally get that Avatar. Some games are so difficult you just never want to play them again, like for many: Typing Terror. Part of the game is skill, but a huge part of it is also luck. As someone who recently got the avatar, here are my tips/guide: Practice, practice, practice! This game requires the ability to type, and it helps if you can confidently type without looking at your keyboard. This is what makes the game complicated for some--understandably, not everyone is good at typing. It can take time to learn how to type quickly and correctly. Get comfortable with your keyboard. Maybe find a typing game online where you can practice without the stress and pressure of Robot Grundos coming at you! Once you’re comfortable with your keyboard and your typing, practice in the game.

"Autumn Adventures" by maddie_bangz
“Clover, over here!” Eleanor the Elephante waved her arms dramatically, waiting for her friend to spot her in the distance. Clover’s face broke into a smile as she spotted Eleanor standing outside of the Plushie shop. The Acara raced across the path, leaves crunching under her feet until she embraced Eleanor with a laugh. “Hey girl, how have you been?” Clover grinned. “Not too bad! Just doing some shopping…” Her voice trailed off and she leaned in conspiratorially. “They’re saying Neopian Central’s starting to go grey. So I figured, check out the places I can before… you know…” Clover nodded solemnly. The Plaza, which was usually bustling with activity at this time of day, was eerily quiet. Neopians everywhere were scared of the rapidly spreading grey curse, Eleanor included. She was constantly checking over her shoulder and looking at the sky for signs of the invading shades, and looking at herself in the mirror before bed, making sure there wasn’t a spot of grey on her. “I understand.” Clover said quietly. She took Eleanor’s arm and the two began to walk down the path away from the shops, watching peacefully as crisp autumn leaves floated in the breeze around them.

"The Best Prank of All" by spukl1
On the eve of King Skarl’s Masquerade Ball, the Blumaroo Court Jester prepares for his shining moment. He lays out his jester costume, making sure his bells are all sewn on tight and none of his patches are fraying. Day after day this jester toils away day and night, attempting to make King Skarl laugh. He rarely succeeds, but then who does? However, on the day of King Skarl’s Masquerade Ball he changes tactics from jokes to pranks around Neopia. King Skarl’s Masquerade Ball is his holiday and King Skarl expects him to go above and beyond, topping all of his previous performances. King Skarl’s Masquerade Ball is more work than any other day of the year, but he is rewarded with piles of Neopoints, unlimited bowls of Gruel and most importantly a chorus of laughs from all of Meridell’s finest on this special day. He recalls his first Masquerade Ball working for King Skarl, where his iconic line came to be: “What do you do if fierce Peophins has eaten too much tin of olives?”, the jester’s confidence soared that day since that simple line was all it took that initial year to have King Skarl cackling but since then the jester has needed to step up his game.

"The Story of Rory" by endisnigh
Rory poured over his sewing machine, working on his last finishing touches of his new spectral garb. He had spent hours working on his Halloween costume, gearing up for the new spooky season. The maroon-coloured Flotsam felt like he was finally done and held up his handiwork to inspect for loose stitches or other eye sores. “Looks good! Let’s check it out!” Rory exclaimed to himself and quickly hurried over to his standing mirror to try it on. He pulled the white sheet over his head and examined how the fabric fell. His piercing red eyes stood out against the white background. His costume was the perfect fit, except his tail still hung out in the back. The Flotsam had even sewn a little smile in the front. “I love it! A perfect little ghost,” Rory said with a smile, admiring his work. The Halloween Flotsam had a plan with his new ghostly attire. He always seemed to be getting himself in trouble, pulling pranks and scaring his elderly neighbours. He never had any cruel intentions, he just wanted to have some fun. Rory had toilet papered yards, positioned lawn gnomes to be turned towards the front door to look like they were sentient, jumped from bushes in front of unsuspecting victims…

My new friends led the way down the beach, stopping at a thatched shack open to the sand with a bar and a scattering of tables and chairs. We took our seats while a waiter came to give us menus.
