*tee* *hee* *hee* So who decided to crawl into my swampy neck of the Werelupe Woods? Has that goodie-two-shoes Gilly come to pester me again? Has my dear brother Bruno finally decided to crawl out of hiding? (Oh right—we don’t talk about Bruno.) Has Mr. Krawley slithered back to seek revenge? Or has Ilere, that reclusive Earth Faerie, wandered from the shadows of the Haunted Woods at last? *sigh* Oh, it’s just a Neopian Times reader… Please scram before I command my dear Meowclops to escort you out. I’ve got a cauldron on the boil, and it’s not going to stir itself.
What’s that? You’re curious as to what I’m brewing? Ha! This isn’t some common potion, my dearie. No curses, no love charms, and certainly no transmogrifications today! *sniffs proudly* This is a delectable stew! You want to help me make it? *Hmph* Well, I suppose that’s a relief. Most Neopians who stumble in here seem to have me confused with that other witch, Edna. As if I’d waste my precious Eye of Mortog on mere magic. All right then, if you insist on hanging about, you can make yourself useful. Toss in that sprig of Tentacle Sprout and mind the bubbles. While you work, I’ll share my greatest passion: the stews and soups of Neopia. |

"Small Paws, Big Trouble" by kendall_cristi Altoc’s new Neohome still smelled faintly of fresh paint, a welcome change from the sun-baked dust of Sakhmet. After months of field research, the Royal Cybunny had promised herself a long, quiet break from all the adventure. She was ready for a lazy day curled up in her armchair with a good book.
She had barely reached for that book when she heard a tap at the door. Too soft for a knock. Too deliberate to ignore.
Altoc frowned. She didn’t know a single Neopet in Neopia Central yet. She opened the door to an empty doorstep.
“Hello?” she called out.
She started to close the door, but a pink streak darted past her. Altoc jumped back as a muddy little Meepit skidded to a stop in the middle of her floor, shivering.
“Oh, you poor thing! Where did you come from?” Altoc asked.
The Meepit blinked and raised one tiny paw, which had a scrap of paper tied to it. Altoc knelt down and carefully loosened the string. The note said: Help me.
The Cybunny scooped the Meepit into her arms. “Don’t worry, little one,” she whispered. “You’re safe here.”
The Meepit wiggled out of her grasp and tugged at the hem of her skirt. “Where are you trying to drag me off to?” Altoc said with a soft laugh. “You just came in out of the cold. Let’s get you cleaned up first.” |
"Sophie & The Story Collector" by _myst_queen The hollow echo of someone knocking on her door made Sophie’s shoulders tense in irritation. Why couldn’t they just leave her alone? She was very busy these days. Working on potions… and… things. Nevertheless, she hunkered further into her spellbook. Perhaps if she read hard enough, the intruders would go away. Concentrating on the black-inked words of a new potion to rid gardens of Meepits, Sophie thought she’d been successful in deterring the unwanted guests from her swampy stoop. At the beginning of the week, she saw villagers approach her hut looking for help. “I’m busy!” she had yelled through the door. She was not busy. Not in the slightest. After harsh whispers amongst themselves, they finally dispersed and Sophie thought that was the end of that. Except two days later, another group trekked through the swamp. That time when they knocked on her door, she yelled, “Sophie’s not here!” She was there, but they really couldn’t catch the hint, could they? Thinking that was the last of that, Sophie nearly forgot the villagers of Neovia seemed to want her for something. “Miss Sophie? I know you’re in there,” a voice called out from the other side of the door. “It’s—It’s Alabaster Chesterdrawers?” |
"A Visit To New Faerieland" by weiyannn During my recent visit to Faerie City, as I was browsing through the new releases at the Faerieland Bookshop, I overheard two Faerieland locals mention something about a NEW Faerieland, one that was in the sky. When Faerieland crashed onto Neopia, Neopians did coin it New Faerieland. But as the years passed, the ‘New’ eventually fell off, and it just became Faerieland, the one and only. Why would there be another New Faerieland, and one in the sky? Nosiness got the better of me, but before I could ask them what they were referring to, they had left the Bookshop, the swinging door and twinkle of a chime marking their departure. “Excuse me,” I asked the Library Faerie behind the counter. “How can I help you today?” She said with a smile pushed aside a stack of hardcovers. “The customers that were here earlier, I heard them say something about a NEW Faerieland… Do you know what that’s about?” “Oh, that! Haven’t you heard? They uncovered a piece of Faerieland floating in the sky!” Seshatia, as her name tag stated, responded with enthusiasm. Faerieland in the sky?! I could not believe my ears. Memories from when I was younger came afloat in my mind, memories of glimpses of Faerieland high up in the sky, the tip of Queen Fyora’s purple castle peeking through the... |

Shadow of the Night The Purple Mynci known as Hubert nodded with approval and continued with his line of customers. They were the last ones of the day, and then Shadow was free. Even his dark, shadowy fur couldn’t hide the look of agony and hatred that he had for this job, but he didn’t once open his mouth to complain.
