I will be writing a weekly column that will be all about
the small things that make Neopia so great.
A slice of streaky bacon for your pet? Streaky Bacon,
fit for a king enjoyed by all. For the average price of 15 NP you can
buy a piece of Streaky Bacon. The affordable price almost mocks this wonderful
item. But I don't think the Streaky bacon would have it any other way.
You see, Streaky B. likes being able to help the masses.
During the Great Depression of 1999 food was scarce.
Everyone, rich and poor, was searching for scraps, and finding nothing.
The same thought passed through everyone's head at the exact same moment.
"I wish I had some food!" And because of the sheer desperation of the
people (and a little bit of magic) Streaky Bacon was formed.
For months afterward there were celebrations a plenty.
Everyone thought that it was a gift from above. That continued for awhile,
until people became greedy. The Depression was over and business was booming.
No one had to concern themselves with petty things such as food. And slowly
they began to forget. Forget about about all the wondrous things Streaky
Bacon had done for them. Some people saw what was happening and said nothing.
They figured that they couldn't do anything to change all of those people.
This proved that they too had forgotten what Streaky Bacon had taught
them.
There are those who still remember. I believe that the
NeoPets Staff still remembers. Many people are shocked to here this. These
people ask how what proof there is for this conclusion. If you don't believe
me play Cliffhanger.
That is enough proof that the Staff still remembers, at least to me. I
still remember, and I try to make friends with people that remember too.
Gundampanzer once said to me make that "I'm not a person who gives all
their NP to the poor or anything, I just can't stand seeing something
who gave it's self freely to us Neopians being pushed aside." I know that
this is how most of us feel. We hope from the bottom of our hearts that
since you now know the truth you won't take anything for granted anymore.
So the next time your playing Dice-A-Roo and win a piece
of Streaky Bacon please don't groan about never getting a Faerie. Smile
and know that as insignificant as something may seem, it can be a blessing
in disguise. I'm not saying that this will be easy. I, myself, enjoy splurging
on Codestones every once and awhile. I do try to donate to the poor, but
I am anything but perfect. I really do hope that you will believe what
I have said here. I wouldn't be able to stand seeing a kind person like
you become greedy. Streaky Bacon for Life!!!
