Well, after my exploits on the invisible paint brush,
I thought maybe I better help owners with their pets. The ones I'm covering
are the Gelert, Koi, Grundo, Uni, and Pteri. To start off, I am a big
fan of the Gelert, and I figured that maybe people would pick up on the
trend of Gelerts. I mean, what's not to love? They are perfect pets! They
don't need a new body shape. Take the Koi, which changed on Koi Day, who
used to have a weirdish body shape. Not easy to work with for the Beauty
Contest, I'll tell ya that! Also, they have the classic items, Gelert
Helm, Gelert Tail Armour, Gelert Full Armour, and Gelert Wand, which are
always useful for low income owners. Well, here is more on the Gelert:
Gelert
This NeoPet is named after the heroic dog, Gelert, who
saved a baby from a wolf and was killed by his owner shortly afterward
by mistake. Gelerts live up to their namesake according to the saying
about them: Many Neopian legends tell tales of a Gelert's selfless act
of courage. Once you befriend one, you can guarantee you will have a faithful
pal that will never let you down.
Amazing, but true. I have had a Gelert for over 9 months
now (except for the fact he was a Uni for about 2 months) named egold.
He is very loyal, and I do not see why people cannot enjoy this fabulous
pet. They are very loyal and kind. Most Gelerts pick up their rooms and
do the dishes, others go off to the Battledome and fight off evil, and
a quite a few help the community. In fact, the Money Tree was said to
be created by Dr. Dogwood, a Gelert. Also, Gelert's are responsible for
the Wishing Well, the Hospital, the Neolodge, and were recently voted
the #1 pet for Community Service, #2 being the Jubjub in the MPA (Monocerous
Prevention Act) and Shop Wizard. So it's only natural that the Gelert
is a gentle, loyal animal. Now, Gelerts also love almost all foods and
if they don't love it, they don't even like it! The same goes for books
too. But a big thing about Gelerts is their love for competition. They
enter the beauty contest in bulk and are the currently running the 'Create
a Gelert' campaign, and their goal is to create 1,111,111 (The Gelert's
Lucky Number) more Gelerts before the Year 4. In the Battledome they are
great fighters, and the claws they have are really good tools for fighting.
However, 3.32% of all the known Gelerts do not like violence, so before
fighting, check with your Gelert. Gelerts can be trained to like or dislike
violence easily, and the current owner's attitude is contagious onto the
Gelert. Probably the most amazing attribute is that Gelert's can benefit
in mysterious ways from the item The Stuff, which I have 'grown' to be
attached to. Bad pun, right?
Now, do not adopt a Gelert if it has a dimwitted IQ.
Many Dimwitted Gelerts suffer from Dim Wit, a horrible disease that can
only be cured by reaching an average IQ. A Gelert usually is about 50
or more centimeters and is at least 50 pounds also. Smaller Gelerts can
be called Walerts, after the PetPet Warf. Walerts aren't that mighty in
he Battledome, but can usually outsmart the better opponents and are speedy.
Gelerts who are over 150 pounds and 75 centimeters high are called Fiselerts,
after the rare Fish Negg. These Gelerts are super sensitive to Dim Wit.
But on the other hand, they also mature faster then most Gelerts, and
can understand pretty much everything. Now, if a Gelert is given height/weight
booster tablets, this chart is thrown off track. Please be aware however
that Gelerts do grow!
Now, Gelerts are always mean to Aishas. Why? Aishas are
cattish and Gelerts don't like that. Another rival of the Gelert is the
Lupe. So be careful about owning any of these pets, and the Lupe does
attack Aisha's too! Aisha's are known for attacking Pteris and Lennys.
Also, Gelert's love to play with Kau, Moehog, Uni, and Korbats, but make
good friends with almost all the pets except for Aisha and Lupe.
Gelerts love Neopia Central so make sure if you are building
a NeoHome, build it in Neopia Central if you own a Gelert. All Gelert's
are scared of Faerieland however. I mean, what if it rained?
Gelerts are great farmers and gardeners, only bested
by the Blumaroo. They are said to be in the process to be creating Money
Tree's for NeoHome Gardens, in the honor of Dr. Dogwood. Also, if the
employment agency was on more level ground, they would love doing more
jobs. Quests are always fun for Gelerts, and Gelert's are hoping that
one day Grandma Gelert (a famous artist) will be assigning her own quests,
but she was recently kidnapped and Gelert's are not that much bloodhound.
Gelerts are famous for discovering the Hidden Tower shortly
after the Faerie Queen found it. The Gelert that found it is called Celandra,
and also is a qualified Domestic Faerie. She is the only known NeoPet
to work for the Faerie Queen. With the except for an Aisha, who is a qualified
Casual Faerie, Celandra is the only NeoPet Faerie that works for the Faerie
Queen.
Now, if you own a Gelert, be sure to never, ever give
it a Angel Chia Plushie! Back when all Chia Plushies became Ripped Chia
Plushies, not Green, not Blue, just Ripped, my Gelert ripped the Angel
Plushie and turned into a Ripped Chia Plushie, worth only around 15 NP,
compared to the 15,000 price tag I paid!
Now, this may be a shock to some people, but the Gelert
actually has a mood change when it is painted Strawberry. Strawberry Gelerts
tend to garden a lot more, and more, and more, and more. And their number
one crop? Strawberries? Nope. Rawberries, which taste best raw. Funny...now
that I think of it, Strawberry Chia?
Teenage Gelerts are very civilized and like the big city.
Teenage Female Gelerts are really big shoppers, and are great friends
with the vain Uni. In fact, some are so vain, some Uni's get disgusted
by it! The TFG's (Teenage Female Gelerts) love Gold Lipstick, Red Long
Hair Brushes, and other grooming items. TMG's (Teenage Male Gelerts) however
spend most of their time setting up shops and Public Services. Both are
known to like Fuzzles and Evil Fuzzles and collect them.
As a baby, Gelerts love to fight with other small objects.
For the first week, I would recommend giving them Fuzzles, even if it
will be ripped after 1 week. Another good thing is a PetPet Gentle pets,
such as Puppyblews, are great, but Warfs and Greebles work well too. On
the other hand, I WOULD NOT GIVE THEM CORBALLS!
Gelert's aren't known for their intelligence, but can
reach amazing high IQ levels. Their specialty in school is math, hence
Polypup (Polygon), which is said to be the ancestor of the Gelert. Be
careful however, they don't like reading very much.
Gelert's are the great racers in the snow, only beaten
by the Poogle, Lenny, (Amazing!) and the Lupe. Gelert's are great jumpers
and have been recorded jumping 25 meters into the air, and having a distance
of 35 metres!
Gelert's are probably the most amazing NeoPet when it
comes to Neopian Times. They have had many stories, such as one about
the LupeGelert published recently.
The Gelert is an amazing NeoPet, and if you have the
space, adopt one today!
Next week: Koi!
