The Right Hand of Light: Part Five

All of Neopia was astonished when Meian, riding a Faerie Zafara and carrying the missing Orb and a sleeping user, soared into Faerie City. It was the Uber-Water Faerie who greeted them first, but not nicely.

"So it was you who stole the Orb! Release that poor Zafara"

"Release me? She's not holding me captive," said Dove, puzzled.

Within thirty seconds Meian was surrounded by all sorts of faeries, including Tooth, Negg, Queen, and all six basic types as well as Uber-Air, Fire, Light, and Earth. "Give up the Orb," ordered the Uber-Fire Faerie

"It's yours! I didn't steal it. I rescued it and I'm bringing it back," explained Meian as she handed the Orb to the Uber-Fire Faerie

"Can anyone prove that?" demanded the Tooth Faerie

"Tell me, if a light Faerie had ridden in carrying the Orb would you have convicted her?" asked Meian.

"Of course not!" exclaimed the Uber-Light Faerie

"But it was a light Faerie who stole it," Meian explained. "She took it and tried to become the Uber-Fire Faerie as well as light. Dove here beat her with some Dark Faerie abilities. She was also using the Locket of the Space Faerie to be the Uber-Space Faerie I think all those powers drove her insane."

"Right. Can anyone back up your story?" asked an earth Faerie skeptically.

"I can!" cried Dove. "I was there."

The Uber-Light Faerie waved her hands and concentrated. "Hm...she isn't under any sort of spell. But is there anyone else who will back you up?"

"Seiun!" called Meian frantically.

"I can support her." Everyone looked up to see the Space Faerie hovering over the crowd.

"Hi Seiun!" called Meian. "I'm so glad to see you."

"She told you her name?" asked the Uber-Water Faerie "Then Seiun must trust you."

"Just because she's a Dark Faerie doesn't mean she's evil. Meian is trustworthy and is telling the truth." Suddenly Seiun noticed the Locket which Meian was holding. "Meian? Is that-is that the-"

"This is the Locket of the Space Faerie Here." The Dark Faerie handed the Locket up to Seiun, who took it gratefully. "The rest of you can choose to believe me or not. It's your call."

The crowd of faeries looked uncomfortable, but suddenly the Negg Faerie said, "I guess I believe you." More followed until the entire crowd had accepted Meian's adventures as truth.

A few days later the faeries had gathered in the Employment Agency (since it was the largest building in Faerieland) to see Meian receive her reward. Dove and sn_rpg_guild had been admitted but no other pets or owners had. The Uber Faeries (including Uber-Dark) hovered in front of the rest of the faeries as the Queen and Meian flew in.

"Meian, Dark Faerie, you have shown great courage in traveling to planet Grundo, facing a mentally ill and extremely powerful twisted Faerie, and returning the Orb of the Fire Faerie to us. For this reason I have decided to give you a great award. You...may become a light Faerie," the Queen said.

"What?" shrieked the Uber-Dark Faerie "You can't do this!"

"Calm yourself, Uber-Dark," ordered the Faerie Queen. "Meian?"

Meian stared at the Queen in confusion. "Why would I want to be a light Faerie?"

"Because light faeries are...no offence meant, but they are better..."

"Hasn't anyone learned anything?" demanded Meian, facing the crowd. "Type of Faerie does not make you good or evil. Type of Faerie doesn't make you mean or nice. I am a Dark Faerie and I'm proud of it, and if I were to become light, air, fire, water, or earth I would not become better or worse as a person. I would not change in personality because of a change in my sphere of powers. I am a good person and even a heroine, and I don't need to become a light Faerie to prove that." She turned and was about to fly out when...

"Wait!" In flew Seiun! But there was something different about her, a new costume, a new feeling about her.

"Seiun?" asked Dove, then realised. "You're the Uber-Space Faerie now!"

"I am," the Uber-Space Faerie replied. "And I have an offer for you. I know that you are proud of being a Dark Faerie, and I am proud of you. However, I am an Uber-Faerie but I am the only Space Faerie in existence."

"You mean..."

"With your permission, Your Majesty," said the Uber-Space Faerie, turning to the Queen, "and with Meian's acceptance, I would like her to become a Space Faerie Her skin and hair would remain the same; only her outfit and sphere of powers would change."

"Do you accept this offer?" the Queen asked Meian.

"Hm...let's see...tough choice, huh?" Meian said sarcastically. Then she added enthusiastically, "Of course, Seiun! I'd be honoured to become the second Space Faerie"

"And so you shall be." The room filled with sparkling starlight, and when it had cleared Meian was four feet tall and wearing the Space Faerie outfit.

"Thank you!" cried Meian in happiness, and the two Space Faeries flew out the door.

Dove looked happily up at sn_rpg_guild, who said, "Go on, follow them. I know you want to." With a cry of gladness JupiterDove embraced her owner then spread her wings and flew after the Space Faeries into the sunset.
