In part one...
Tina, Baby, and Usulia were adopted by a kind, but poor
Neopian girl, Kit. All three had dreamed of living with a rich Neopian,
but when they arrive, Baby and Usulia find out that they are quite content
with their life in Kit's home. Tina, however, wants to go back to the
pound to be adopted by a rich Neopian. Later, Tina overhears a conversation
and realises that it will take some work if she wants to go back to the
pound, because Kit's not going to leave her at the pound again! Tina vows
that someday, she will go back to the pound and be adopted by someone
wealthier than the kind hearted Kit...
The next morning after breakfast, Kit announced that
she had planned a little outing for the four of us. "I'm going to take
you to Faerieland," she announced.
Baby Blues and Usulia cheered. "The Poogle Races!" cried
Baby, while Usulia insisted, "No! The library!"
Kit smiled and said, "Tell you what. We'll go to all
of those places, and we can even to go a theme park. There are quite a
few good ones that are reasonably priced, you know."
Baby and Usulia cheered, but I said scathingly, "Well,
what if we wanted to go to a theme park that was actually nice, not one
of the cheap ones? And every one knows that only poor Neopians hang out
around Faerieland, because those Faeries are such suckers, they'll give
free stuff to anyone."
Kit didn't know what to say. She just looked at me sadly,
and then turned to Baby and Usulia and said, "Girls, if all three of you
feel so strongly about it, then we don't have to go."
Baby and Usulia looked shocked, and begged, "Oh no! We
do want to go! Please take us! We promise to be good NeoPets for the rest
of our lives, don't listen to Tina, she's always like that..."
Kit smiled and said, "All right. Go get yourselves ready
and we'll be off in a minute. Oh, by the way, in the dresser drawer upstairs,
I put some new hair ribbons and stuff like that if you'd like to use them,"
she called after Baby and Usulia as they hurried off. Then she turned
to look at me. "You and I, Miss Tina," she said, "are going to get along.
I didn't adopt you just to take you back to living in that dark, dank
old pound. I am trying to make life better for you, can't you see? You
don't have to come with Baby, Usulia and me if you really don't want to,
but I think all three of us would like you to come and I personally think
that it might be good for you to be able to get some fresh air and have
some fun after being locked up in that cell for so long. You think about
it, and if you decide to come, help yourself to the ribbons, hats and
clothes that I bought for the three of you. They're in the bedrooms upstairs."
She turned and walked away. I sat at a chair in the kitchen
and ate some food when I thought that she wasn't looking. Then I ambled
up the stairs to see if Baby and Usulia were ready; I wasn't going to
get dressed up, but I did want to go with them. They looked at me angrily,
and Usulia said, "Tina, you are so nasty! That was downright rude of you
to speak that way to Kit! And are you coming or not? We have been waiting
for you for, like, forever up here! If you're going with us, you'd better
get your hair ribbons and other things on as quick as you can, because
you look a mess!"
I looked at Usulia and said, "Yes, I am going with you,
and I am going looking like this! I don't think it was rude of me, I am
only doing this for everyone's good! We need to live somewhere where the
person is rich, and Kit really can't afford to keep us! Now come on, I
want to go to the amusement park!"
I left the room and went downstairs to wait impatiently
for Baby, Usulia, and Kit. I heard voices talking upstairs while I was
waiting. Baby and Usulia were talking about me. I didn't care. But then,
over there childish chitchat, I heard another angry voice: the voice of
Kit. Right away, I was curious. Was she talking to the pound manager again?
Silently, I crept up the stairs and leaned against the wall outside of
Kit's door. She was arguing with someone on the telephone. "What do you
mean, you haven't gotten this month's... Well, of all the stupid... you
of all people should know that I don't have enough...No, I can't come
in now, I'm about to take my NeoPets to Faerieland... don't you dare tell
me what to do with my money! I'll take my pets to Faerieland if I want
to! And... WHAT?!?! I'm not moving out of this house... I can't! you know
that!... Well, fine, if that's the way you feel about it!" She slammed
down the phone. I shivered. This only proved that Kit was poor. She was
having a hard time paying for this old broken down house, and soon the
bank was going to kick her out of it. Soon we'd be homeless! One thing
was for sure, I would rather be at the pound with a bed and food then
on the streets with some unfortunate Neopian! I had a plan.
I must admit, the Amusement Park and the Poogle Races
weren't as dull as I thought they would be. I didn't choose anything at
the Faerie Bookstore, though, because I thought that Kit would need to
save as much money as she could. Unfortunately, she lost her bet at the
Poogle Races, and when Baby Blue spun the Wheel of Excitement, she ended
up with Neopox and Kit had to buy her a special slice of pizza later.
The amusement park was fun, but I was too busy concentrating on my new
plan to pay too much attention to the rides I was going on. One thing
I do remember, though, is Kit coming out of the Employment Agency looking
frustrated. After that, she said it was time to go.
On our way out, Kit sighed and looked up at the largest
house I have ever seen. It was sitting on a cloud and it was enormous,
and it looked like it wasn't even finished. Kit started to say, "I wish
that house..." but she stopped. She sighed again and we left Faerieland.
That night, I was ready to start phase one of my plan. I packed some things
into a bag, then opened the drawer containing the makeup and clothes.
Carefully, I applied on as many cosmetics as I could.
Soon I looked hideous, like some sort of Aisha with Kougra
markings. Quietly, so I didn't awaken Baby and Usulia, I slid out of the
window. Softly, I landed on the ground below our window. Looking up, I
could see the curtain in our room billowing as a breeze went through the
window. I could just barely see Baby asleep in her bed, closest to the
window. I didn't realise for a moment that there were tears streaming
down my face. I knew that there was a chance that I would never see Baby
Blue and Usulia again, because I could get adopted by a Neopian who lived
far, far away. Sighing, I turned and walked away from the side of the
house.
Looking up, I saw that the light was still on in Kit's
room. I could see her moving about in the room. I watched her for a moment,
and when her light snapped off, I sighed and turned away from the broken
down old house, vowing that I would never set foot in there again!
To be continued...
