The Really Rainy Day

Rain poured outside. It dripped down the windows and splashed down into puddles. Every now and then there was a flash of lightning, followed by a rumble of thunder. Four painted pets huddled together on the couch, and I will name them one by one: lilloopy9, a pretty female purple Shoyru, Cuculam, a male cloud Chomby, defactomax, a male split Flotsam, and finally, SnowTopahz, a glowing female Aisha. They were all waiting for elena333, their owner, to get back from a meeting. She would be gone until midnight.

"How long do ya' think it'll last?" sniffed SnowTopahz.

She was answered by defactomax, who we'll call Maxi for short. Maxi yawned, "Oh, I don't know...why don't we go play hide-and-seek?"

Lilloopy9, who we'll call loopy for short, answered this one. "Because," she snapped. "That game's for little kids. Don't act so immature!"

Cuculam agreed, "Yeah, Maxi, why don't you go call your girlfriend, Marina_girl2000?"

Maxi blushed as everyone else giggled. Marina_girl2000 was a pretty green flotsam acquaintance of his, whom some would call his girlfriend.

Maxi blushed again and mumbled, "Fine, I will. At least she would be more interesting than you!! And I'm soooooo bored anyway..." He climbed off the couch and started for the phone that was lying on the glossy table by the window.

"BOOM!!!"

There was a flash of lightning followed by thunder. Everyone screamed as the power went out and the room went black.

Maxi paused and said, "Well, I guess the phone's not working." SnowTopahz whined, "Now what do we do?!"

Maxi answered, "We wait until elena333 comes home, and she can fix the power."

SnowTopahz whined again, "What'll we do until then??"

"We'll light some candles, and make ourselves cozy in the living room," Maxi decided.

"Cuculam, go get some candles from the closet in the hallway." It turned out that Cuculam was too scared to go into the dark hallway, so loopy got them.

"Now," Maxi ordered, "SnowTopahz, go get some matches out of the drawer. Cuculam, since you're too afraid of the dark," (Cuculam shivered) "I'll go get the blankets out of the spare room.

Everyone did as Maxi told them (he was the oldest) and soon they were all congregated on the couch, huddled in blankets and looking at the eerie shadows the tall candles made on the wall.

SnowTopahz whined for the third time: "I'm bored!!!" Then Cuculam came up with a great idea: "Let's make shadows on the walls!" Everyone liked that idea and they spent half an hour making weird shapes on the wall.

"Look!" cried loopy. "It's a bird!" She clasped her hands together and fluttered fingers. The result was a flying bird shape on the wall. "Cool!" said Maxi.

After everyone was tired of that, they came up with another idea: Make a tent on the floor with some of the blankets. They did that. Then they told scary stories.

They got so scared (Maxi always said that he wasn't scared, he always said that he was just pretending) of the Swamp Ghoul story SnowTopahz told they all crawled under their little tent. They huddled under it, shivering, jumping at every sound for an hour.

Then they fell asleep.

Hours later elena333 came home. She closed the door and hung up her soggy coat. "Boy, what an interesting meeting! That Kauvara can really talk. I'm happy I went. Oh!" She had come upon the group of sleepers in the living room. "Wake up!" She laughed.

"Huh... What??" Maxi and the rest got up. "Elena333!" They laughed."You're home!"

After some hugs and explanations, elena333 fixed the power and put everybody to bed. Maxi told Elena333, "Can we do that again sometime? That was fun!"

SnowTopahz sniffed, "I thought you were bored!!"

Maxi answered, "Yeah, I was. But I learned something today... Rainy days are fun!"
