A red Shoyru slept at morning. If you were familiar with
legends, you would know her as Shoyrulan. Shoyrulan awoke calmly moments
after the sunrise. She walked outside to greet her friends Khani, and
Meerca. Khani the blue Uni had been Shoyrulan's friend for the longest
time. Meerca the blue Meerca...had walked into Neopia with out any one
even noticing.
"Ay, Khani," called Shoyrulan walked toward her friend,
"Can I see the Neopian Times?"
Khani handed Shoyrulan the newspaper. Meerca ran out
to greet her friend. "I wanna see," she called.
Shoyrulan was too busy looking at the front page of
the newspaper to hear. Meerca stepped between Shoyrulan and the newspaper
and, being only half Shoyrulan's height, started jumping up and down.
"What" bounce "Is" bounce "Up" bounce "With" bounce
"YOU????"
"Look," said Shoyrulan, showing her friends the front
page.
"Mysterious Mansion..." Khani read, "Many have entered,
None have returned."
"No way," said Meerca, "It says the mansion appeared
out of nowhere."
"Let's check it," said Shoyrulan.
Without a moments thought, Shoyrulan started running
as fast as she could. Khani bent down and Meerca climbed on for a ride.
The Uni took off in flight, chasing his friend toward the mansion. When
the three arrived they saw the mansion was called 'Dark Mansion'. It was
huge, and frightening. Shoyrulan looked at the notice. It read:
Only the bravest of brave enter, no one has ever
returned. Once you are gone inside these walls assume the worst.
Mayor Toru
"We have to go," said Shoyrulan.
"I second that," said Khani.
"And I third," said Meerca.
"Then it's settled," said Shoyrulan.
The three pets stared at the towering Mansion, ready
to take on their worst enemy yet.
***
The trio of pets walked to the door. Shoyrulan opened
it and they all walked in. The mansion was eerie. Everything was shadowed
by the darkness. "Let's go," said Shoyrulan uneasily. The three started
up the winding stair cases leading them closer to the top every step.
There were odd pictures everywhere. Many dark Faeries and VirtuPets.
"Spooky," said Khani, "it reminds me of those two Kyriis."
"Wha...what two Kyriis?" asked Meerca with a frightened
look on her face.
"Well," said Khani in his scariest voice, "Once two Kyriis
walked into a strange dark house. They went to the top, opened the door,
and. The next thing anyone saw of them, they looked like, THIS!" Khani
jumped around and gave Meerca his scariest face.
Meerca jumped so high, Shoyrulan had to catch her so
she wouldn't fall. Shoyrulan practically fell all the way down the stairs
laughing. Khani did fall down the stairs. When the trio of pets got back
up the stairs, they looked at all the scary portraits again. Shoyrulan
was the most comfortable in the area out of the trio. After an hour and
a half of walking up the flight of stairs, the trio came close to the
top. Meerca was now riding on Khani, while practically pulling his mane
out from fear. Shoyrulan walked, still wondering what this place was.
It gave off such a frightening appearance, who could actually want it
like this. Soon, Shoyrulan and friends reached the top. There were so
many doors.
"I'll go in any door with a light," said Meerca, taking
note that no doors had a light.
The top of the mansion was even darker than the bottom.
"Look," said Shoyrulan, pointing ahead, "there's light coming from that
room."
Khani nodded. Meerca shuddered. "I said I would go in
any room with light," she said, "but I didn't mean green light."
"C'mon," said Khani walking ahead.
The three pets walked towards the eerie green light of
the door. They got in front, and Shoyrulan prepared to open the door.
The three pets had a good reason to be scared, they were about to meet
Neopia's greatest enemy.
Shoyrulan turned the knob and the three pets walked inside.
Only when it was too late did they look up. A tall, frightening figure,
turned around and stared them in the eye.
"Hello," said the tall figure, "I am Dr. Sloth. I've
been expecting you."
"What do you want," asked Shoyrulan, in a ready fight
position.
"Nothing," said Dr. Sloth, "I just want you to hear me
out, as I tell my tale. Chigore, get these pets...comfortable."
A deformed Chia walked in and sat the pets down. Suddenly,
out of the ground, chains grabbed Khani and Meerca's hands and legs. Shoyrulan
was out on a table and chained up so she could not move.
"Tell me," said Shoyrulan, "what do you want to tell
us."
"I want to tell the tale of the one that got away, the
one that could have lead my army to victory," said Sloth, "I want to tell
the tale of you."
The trio of pets could only stare as Sloth began his
tale. "I was planning my domination," he began, "I had mutated pets before,
but everyone knew they were evil. I then decided to create NeoPets I could
still control. Since Shoyrus had such a good nature, they were my first
experiment. I planted a device in your brain. This mechanism was supposed
to make a pet ten times stronger, while I could still control it. Then
the no good Space
Faerie came looking for me. I couldn't let her see my key to victory,
so I abandoned you. A no good owner adopted you before I could get back
in time. It took three years before I finally realised I still had control
of your mind. By the time I figured that out, you were too strong for
me to tell you what to do. So I built this castle to trap you in, and
make you the VirtuPet that will lead my troops into victory."
Shoyrulan was stuck, she could only struggle. Khani and
Meerca were no better either--shackles held them to the ground as tight
as a leash. "Shall we begin?" asked Dr. Sloth evilly. He turned on a machine
hooked up the the board Shoyrulan was trapped on. "Five minutes to show
time," said Dr. Sloth."
Shoyrulan looked at her friends. If she struggled, the
machine would drain her power and knock her out cold. Hope seemed lost
in the room. No one saw what was lurking in the shadows.
Shoyrulan fell prey to the sleeping gas emitted from
the mind control machine. Her body lay victim to becoming evil. Khani
and Meerca could only watch as the minutes were counted down. All was
lost. Shoyrulan, though unconscious, was still able to think. "I have
failed," she said to herself, "I will be Neopia's defeat. I was too weak
to stand up to our enemy. I was a creation of evil to begin with."
Shoyrulan was now in two states of mind. Her second one
spoke up. "No," it said, "Don't listen, that voice is not you. It is Dr.
Sloth's mind controlling you. You are strong, you can break free. You
must wake up." Shoyrulan now stirred. "Even if I wake up, I can't
free my self of these shackles," she said sorrowfully. "Don't say that,"
said her second mind. Shoyrulan awoke with a snap.
"HELP!!!!!!!" she screamed. Shoyrulan now threw a fit.
She wouldn't go down without a fight.
"Too bad you only have forty seconds left," said Dr.
Sloth with a grin.
"Guess again," came a voice from the shadows. Two shadowed
Shoyrus stepped out from the corner.
"Midnight Rider, Shoyruguy..." said Shoyrulan, never
more happy to see the two.
"Hey don't leave me hangin'," said Puma, hanging from
the rafters.
The three stepped forward. The two male shadowed Shoyrus
stepped up, as Puma flew down gracefully moving her wings. "We heard you
came here," said Shoyruguy, "So we decided to give you some help. I painted
myself shadowed so I could hide."
Puma tackled Dr. Sloth and stopped the countdown. Midnight
Rider ran over to Khani and Meerca and released them from their chains.
Shoyruguy went to Shoyrulan and took off the shackles.
"You think you can stop me?" asked Dr. Sloth, "I have
an entire army of pets and you think that you can make a difference.
"We can," came a voice from behind. Dr. Sloth turned
around to find Shoyrulan.
Never had Shoyrulan become so enraged within combat.
Her eyes were more red than the lava of the Tyrannia
Volcano. Her voice was strong and meaningful. Shoyrulan got a
look that explained everything she was trying to say. For once in his
life, Dr. Sloth was scared. The NeoPets got in a fighting position.
"C'mon," said Shoyrulan to her friends, "Let's kick it
up a notch."
Shoyrulan, Khani, Meerca, Puma, Shoyruguy, and Midnight
Rider all stood ready for fierce action. Shoyrulan was the first to attack.
"Dragon Beam," she called knocking their opponent back a few feet. Khani
charged with all his might at Dr. Sloth.
"If you want a fight, you'll have to do more than that
to beat me," said Dr. Sloth, "Chigore, come take care of these soon to
be VirtuPets."
The mutated Chia ran in. All the pets attacked chigore
at once. Being distracted by the VirtuPet, Dr. Sloth grabbed Puma from
behind. Shoyrulan turned around and shot a lighting beam at Dr. Sloth's
knee. Dr. Sloth fell to the floor and released Puma. "I'll keep this VirtuPet
out of your way," said Khani, "You go ahead and fight."
The battle was no ordinary fight. The four Shoyrus fought
Dr. Sloth, while Meerca broke all the electrical stuff. After being pummeled
by the Shoyrus, Dr. Sloth, with the slap of his hand, knocked down the
pets. "You realise," he began, "you may have destroyed my machines, but
you are all too late. I already have a mind control device in Shoyrulan's
brain, and now that she's tired enough, I can control her with this."
Dr. Sloth held out a remote control and flipped on a power switch. Dr.
Sloth faced the Shoyrus as Shoyrulan began the first phase of control.
Meerca stood out of Dr. Sloth's view and focused her
energy. Shoyrulan was now in complete control as she stood to face her friends.
Just when she was about to attack, Meerca came from behind and kicked
Dr. Sloth. Shoyruguy grabbed the remote as it flew out of Dr. Sloth's
hands. Shoyruguy threw the remote on the ground and short circuited it
by zapping it with Improved
Lightning Beam. Khani finally had made Chigore faint and was free
to join his friends.
"Let's kick it up," said Shoyrulan, her friends at her
side, "Together."
Everyone nodded. "One," said Meerca, "Two, THREE!!!!"
Everyone blasted Dr. Sloth with their Rainbow Frost Cannons.
The fight was over. "The building's gonna collapse," said Khani as creaks
of breaking wood were heard. The three pets ran to the widow and jumped
out as Chigore awoke and ran away. When on the ground again, the new town
hero's looked up at the crowd. The crowd was the first to see all the
new legends.
***
The new legends all stayed on their hands and knees,
still looking down, as the building behind them collapsed. Then, slowly,
they all lifted their heads as the crowd cheered for them. So many questions
went around.
"Let's get some quiet at my house," said Shoyrulan, who
knew screaming fans better than any one. When all the pets were at Shoyrulan's,
they talked about what had happened.
"That was the biggest adventure I've ever had," said
Shoyrulan.
"That Chigore thing packed a punch," said Khani, still
a little sore from the fight.
"Breaking electrical stuff is my specialty," said Meerca,
"See." She reached for Shoyrulan's TV, but Midnight Rider grabbed
her in time to stop her.
"This shadow paint rules," said Shoyruguy, "Now I can
become a spy."
"Told ya that shadow paint was da bomb," said Midnight
Rider.
"That was really cool, getting to defeat Neopia's greatest
enemy," said Puma.
Shoyrulan had been in thought for a while before she
spoke up. "How did you know we were in Dr. Sloth's mansion?" Shoyrulan
asked Puma and the others.
"It was in The Neopian Times," said Puma.
"We knew it was a dark, shadowed place, so we painted
Shoyruguy shadowed," said Midnight Rider.
"Puma refused to be painted, so we went on following
you in these colors," said Shoyruguy.
There was a knock at the door. "Be right back," said
Shoyrulan, walking to the door.
A few mumbles could be heard by the other five pets.
Shoyrulan ran back in. "It's The Neopian Times," she said, "They wanna
do a story on us!"
The reporter, a Meerca named Milly, asked a lot of questions
to everyone. "How did you over come Neopia's nemesis?" asked Milly, taking
notes.
"We just worked together," said Khani.
"I understand you three surprised everyone by appearing
from the shadows," said Milly, pointing to Puma, Midnight Rider, and Shoyruguy.
"Yeah," said Puma, "But I came from the rafters."
"What comments do you have on this?" Milly asked Shoyrulan.
"Well," said Shoyrulan, "This was my biggest adventure
yet. I've done so much in my life... it's a very hard job to pick the
biggest adventure. And I think I can safely say my life has been an adventure."
Shoyrulan looked at all her friends and smiled. "And it still is."
The End
