Hey, Why Don't You Make Your Shop Work For You?

by lindsaystrandberg150

I know that everyone likes to make money, but it seems that a lot of people complain about the costs in the privately owned shops. Here are a few pointers on how to make your shop work.

1. Set prices at a reasonable limit. If you pay so much for an item, put the price up a little bit more than what you pay for it. In some cases quickly check out the shop wizard to compare prices. Most cheap food items can have their prices set about 10 NPs more than what you paid for them. More expensive food items can be set a little more than 10 NPs above what you paid for them. A store owner can still make a small to medium size profit with this idea.

2. Keep your shop simple. Do not use flashy colors that can be annoying to your customers. Make sure your customers can read the prices in your shop. If customers can not read the prices in your shop, then they might go somewhere else. Pictures can take longer to load and the same goes for moving backgrounds. Those with slower download capabilities may not want to wait for the background and pictures to load.

3. Have a contest. Contest are a fun way to reward current customers and bring in new ones. Be reasonable with prices for the contests. Make sure the prices of the items in your shop are somewhere near what you paid for them. A lipstick at 500 NPs is not worth it. Make sure you give a description of your contest in your shop description. Beware of those shops with extremely high prices that have contests. Many Neopians may not be able to even enter into these contests. Give out the contest prizes as soon as the contest is over. This helps customers to believe you are honest when you are rewarding the winners.

4. Know what sells. Usually food, Codestones, map pieces, and Faeries usually sell quite well. Make sure your prices are reasonable and people will buy these items before you know it. Some toys and Battledome items may sell, however keep an eye on them. If they are not selling, remove the items from your shop and put different items into your shop in their place.

5. Upgrade your shop. Upgrading your shop works well to a point. Here is a suggestion on upgrading: upgrade if you max out the items in your shop. This works well up unto about a size 40 shop. Anything much bigger than a size 40 shop is not really worth it if you sell the right items. Besides, the costs of upgrading at a size 40 shop can become quite expensive.

These are just some suggestions that will help you to have a profitable shop. I know that most of the suggestions work because I have a profitable shop. Don't believe me? Well I have a nice bank account with about 100,000 NPs in it. If you wish to check out my shop, look me up at lindsaystrandberg150. Good luck in making your shop work for you!
