Once long, long ago, there lived a small, newborn Poogle named Tyrogue.
He was the runt of the litter but he had more strength, enthusiasm, and
spirit than any of his siblings. Tyrogue's older sister Violet had already
been around for a year from the first litter and now it was her responsibility
to care for her younger siblings. This was easier said than done especially
with Tyrogue around so she was always complaining that he was too hard
to take care of, even when it was just him and not the whole litter. One
night, Tyrogue had had an accident on the floor and his sister went berserk!
Violet was on a war path when her parents finally got home. After listening
to his sister, Tyrogue got the usual talk before being sent to his room.
But this time it was different, it hurt more inside. It was then that
Tyrogue decided to leave home so that his sister would not have to get
angry or sad any more.
That evening, after dinner, Tyrogue snuck silently out of the house into
the cool night air. He started up the pathway towards town and then decided
against it because that would be the first place that they'd look. So
he turned around and headed towards the dank, musty woods on the other
side of Mudlump Pond. The water bubbled anxiously as he crossed the ancient,
rotting old bridge that stretched across the murky water like an old,
crippled skeleton. Tyrogue quickened his pace as he neared the other side.
When he stepped into the woods, he lost almost all of his courage, the
trees looked as if they had tried to grow strait but then changed their
minds halfway through and they were surrounded by an eerie grey mist that
resembled restless ghosts weaving through the trees. Finally, Tyrogue
decided to stop and set up camp for the night.
When Tyrogue woke up the next morning, he thought that he heard a faint
cry from one of the tree tops but then decided that he had just heard
the wind. As he carried on his journey he thought he heard the voice again
and this time not only was it closer but he was sure that it was real.
Now as he walked, Tyrogue watched the trees hoping to catch a glimpse
of... of...what am I looking for he thought. Anyway, he was looking for
whatever had made that noise. After hearing it several times, he thought
he recognized it. That sound, where had he heard it before? He was just
thinking this when he suddenly remembered. Once when he was very small
he had a dream about a Gelert that had become his friend and was captured
by an evil force and as he searched for this Gelert, it's name was Jim,
he had heard his voice in the trees calling him farther towards the place
where Jim was held captive. In the end of the dream, he and Jim had been
able to trick the evil master of darkness into letting them escape. Then
very suddenly something darted out of the shadows. It was a Zafara. "Hello.
I am Mekanzo," the Zafara said, "What's your name?"
"I'm Tyrogue," the young confused Poogle answered. After a
while of talking with Mekanzo, Tyrogue decided that it would be safe to
let Mekanzo travel with him. Besides, now he had someone to talk to. On
their way again, Tyrogue and Mekanzo had told each other many stories
when suddenly they saw a Faerie. She was trapped in something and she
was calling out in the same voice that Tyrogue had heard as he was walking.
Immediately they ran up to her and helped her untangle from some sort
of invisible net. As soon as she was freed the faerie smiled at them and
promised that they would forever be honoured by the faeries because she
was the former Faerie Queen so she would make sure that everyone knew
of this kind and generous deed. From then on Tyrogue never heard the voice
again.
Now that the two companions Mekanzo and Tyrogue were past the woods their
spirits soared. After a couple of days of traveling they came upon some
huge mountains. At the base of one of the mountains was an enormous cave.
Mekanzo decided to go look inside. Tyrogue was sitting at the mouth of
the cave when he heard Mekanzo's cry of fright. After Mekanzo had raced
out of the cave, Tyrogue saw what was chasing him. It was the biggest
Skeith he'd ever seen, but was it a Skeith because it had the wings of
a Korbat and the huge, monstrous teeth of a Grarrl!!! they bolted up the
mountain, the monster in hot pursuit when finally, out of breath, Tyrogue
turned to face the beast. And with all his might, he concentrated on the
beast changing it into something that could and would not eat them.
When he opened his eyes, it had worked for there before him stood two
faeries. A dark faerie and a light faerie. The dark faerie scowled, yelled,
and then before disappearing in a cloud of darkness cursed Mekanzo who
was now a helpless little Lupe pup that still had his eyes closed. The
Light Faerie, however, saw things differently and promised to take good
care of Mekanzo until he was older because she could not reverse the spell.
Then she turned on Tyrogue and promised that from now on all Poogles would
be protected by faeries and would live on Poogle Mountain, which is the
mountain that all this had happened on, for as long as they liked because
it would now be protected by the faeries. Tyrogue thanked her and looked
out on the land that was now Poogle territory and decided that he had
done very good for being the runt of the litter.
A week after Tyrogue's great adventure millions of Poogles and some
other NeoPets started showing up at Poogle Mountain. Soon the mountain
side was covered by houses and cities of Poogles. One month after the
Poogles had been given there mountain, the new Faerie Queen showed up.
She said that the Poogle that started all of this and of course his family
were invited to come and live in the clouds with the rest of the faeries.
They gladly accepted. And ever since then Poogles have always dwelt on
their mountain and they were always cherished by the faeries. In fact
one of Tyrogue's great grand children saved my life five years ago and
since then we've been inseparable. Now, if you want to know if you are
friends with one of the great Poogle's grandchildren all you have to do
is look for the scar that was left on Tyrogue's right ear when the Dark
Faerie's curse missed him. If your Poogle has the scar then he or she
is a descendant of the great Tyrogue. And that is the entire story of
Poogles. It's all completely true. You better believe it.
